Tramwaje w Łodzi[edit]

Witam. Proszę o kontakt pod numerem GG 2500733, w związku z łódzką mapą. Pozdrawiam.

Tramwaje w Olsztynie[edit]

Pozdrawiam Umix (talk) 21:01, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Foundation grant[edit]

Did you get the grant you requested on Wikimedia for ShareMap? Citypeek (talk) 06:54, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Very nice maps.[edit]

Your maps such as File talk:Railways in Mozambique.svg are very nice to the show railways, and their gauges.

They would be nicer still if they could show railways in adjacent countries, even gaps between railways in adjacent countries.

This is because unlike planes, cars, trucks and ships, railways need such gaps to be filled because trains can operate. Tabletop (talk) 05:52, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Even the UNHCR maps often fail to do this.

Church of England dioceses map[edit]

You did a really nice map of the Dioceses of the Church of England. Do you have a source file you can send me which just has the outlines without any colours or name labels? 217.158.228.123 18:56, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File:Alaska_Railroad.svg[edit]

Hurricane Gulch isn't a village! There is only a bridge over the river Hurricane Gulch. The next village with 1000 inhabitants is Healy, Alaska. Greetings--Gunnar1m (talk) 08:37, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Bolivian Railways[edit]

Great map of railways in Bolivia! I am using it in https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historia_de_los_ferrocarriles_en_Bolivia I wonder why the La Paz, Viacha, Guaqui railroad is in red? And its not in the reference key. Where and how did you get the information on the state of each track? Congratulations and thank you again for the contribution. --MEContreras (talk) 18:42, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request: File:Rail density map.svg needs to be corrected.[edit]

Hello.

The File:Rail density map.svg needs to be corrected because Myanmar (5,403 km), Laos (4 km) and Afghanistan (25 km) have railways which are operational, but erroneously appear in the map as having no railways. Please see the sources.

Please see the sources.

Amtrak maps[edit]

Since the individual Amtrak maps on Sharemap have been subsumed into the Passenger trains in America map, is there any way to export the individual line maps for File:Amtrak Capitol Corridor.svg and similar? That file is now out of date, and I cannot figure out how to update it. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 02:54, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the question - all the maps are still available on free licenses on ShareMap.org - the Passenger Trains in America map just aggregates them. The easiest way to find them is search tool on ShareMap page - ie. http://sharemap.org/public/?query=Amtrak+Capitol+Corridor

--Jkan997 (talk) 08:25, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, that link worked once, and I was able to edit the map. But now when I click on it again, it redirects to the Passenger trains in America map. Do you have the ability to fix the links so that http://sharemap.org/public/Amtrak_Capitol_Corridor will take me to the editable map, rather than the compiled map? Pi.1415926535 (talk) 01:23, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You need to append ?nr to url - however you are right that this should be described somewhere explicitly - http://sharemap.org/public/Amtrak_Capitol_Corridor?nr, let me know if you will make some fixing to the map, then I will trigger regeneration of Passenger Trains in America to include your fixes - thanks --Jkan997 (talk) 08:45, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that works! I will change the source links on all the Amtrak maps that way, as it more accurately preserves the editable source (but captions will still go to the main map). I plan to soon modify File:Amtrak Vermonter.svg, File:Amtrak Southwest Chief.jpg, and File:Amtrak Wolverine Route.svg to reflect major station openings and closures; and File:Amtrak Maple Leaf.svg, File:Amtrak Pere Marquette.svg, File:Amtrak Empire Builder.jpg, File:Amtrak Northeast Regional.svg, and File:Amtrak Piedmont.svg to reflect cross-town station moves (not all of which will require updating the Commons file). File:Amtrak Cascades.svg and File:Amtrak Silver Service.png have upcoming changes as well.
I may make cosmetic changes (mostly station label size and placement) to several other maps. Do I need to let you know about those? I may also make maps for several routes that are currently missing from the map (notably the Shuttle and Carolinian); I'll let you know when I make them. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 00:16, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Could you change File:Amtrak Southwest Chief.jpg to be owned by public rather than admin? Cheers, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 06:02, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sure! Done - https://sharemap.org/public/Amtrak_Southwest_Chief?nr --Jkan997 (talk) 11:00, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Medea-chart database on old nautical charts[edit]

Hi, I’m sending this message to all participants of Commons Wikimaps listed here, so that I can be pretty sure it will get to some of you. I am the Principal Investigator of the ERC funded project Medea-Chart ([1]), hosted by the University of Lisbon, whose scientific objective is the study of the genesis, evolution and use of nautical charts from the Middle Ages to the early modern period. One of the visible outcomes of our project is the Medea-Chart database, aimed at storing and making available information and images of all extant manuscript nautical charts: [2]. Since the images of old maps and charts are now in the public domain and our database is open to all, I’m sure your project could benefit from it. The most obvious way would be to download from there all the images you are interested in, but I imagine you could use the tool for more sophisticated purposes. For now, I invite all of you to go there, browse the database, do geographical searches, read our “Chart of the Week” mini-articles, etc. You don’t even need to register for that. Registration is only required for those interested in downloading high resolution images or producing reports. Best wishes and have fun, Alvesgaspar (talk) 21:22, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
