Purpose of Zug[edit]

Salut Greatpatton, Zug is meant for images concerning Zug Stadt, the capital of canton of Zug and not for everything concerning the canton itself. Although you described the coat of arms as "Zug Stadt" it shows the coat of arms of the canton of Zug (Image:Canton_zoug-drapeau.png), which is not the same. The coat of arms of Zug Stadt has a slight different blue and a castle on top (cp. [1]) The linked image was in de.wikipedia.org but had to be deleted because of copyright problems. As far as I know there is no free image of the coat of arms of Stadt Zug. Therefore Image:Canton_zoug-drapeau.png should be placed on a page for the canton of Zug, which has not yet been created and I don't know about the naming scheme on commons. --Baikonur 15:08, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)

This is not the coat of arm of the the city of Zug but the flag of the city of Zug which is the same as the flag of the canton with the héraldique (dont' know the english word) Argent a Bar Azure (in french). This is the same for instance as the city of Geneva where the flag of the city and the flag of the canton are the same. ref: FLOW Greatpatton 17:00, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Ah okay, I was irritated because the German word "Wappen" means coat of arms in English. The correct translation is "Flagge". I'll correct it in Zug. If you have a free image of the coat of arms of the city or know a source for it I would really appreciate it. --Baikonur 19:08, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Sorry, but I was looking for Flagge, but the only word that came to me was Wappen. ;-) (my german is not that good). I m currently redrawing all the flags (not the coat of arms) for all swiss Gemeinde see fr:Wikipédia:Projet, Blasons, communes et cantons suisses, with a free license. For each flag I have the vectorial file (.svg or .ai) from which it should not be difficult to draw the coat of arms, maybe we can team up between de: and fr: to do this job. Request removal of sysop access[edit]

Hi. I have requested the removal of your sysop access, at meta:Requests_for_permissions#Removal_of_access. Following Commons:Administrators#What_is_expected_from_an_administrator.3F, an administrator with less than 50 edits in 12 months is considered inactive and may have his/her sysop status revoked.

This is not a personal attack on you, but a way to make sure that those administrator's listed as such are available for administrative tasks. If you feel that you will again become active and need the sysop tools, you are of course welcome to apply for adminship again.

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Please help replace this outdated license[edit]

Hello!

Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license {{PD}}. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.

The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding {{PD-self}} if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.

Peux-tu me confirmer que c'est bien toi l'auteur de cette prise de vue ?
