National Portrait Gallery[edit]

According to their website [1], the National Portrait Gallery have released their images under the CC-BY-NC-ND licence (which only allows non-commercial use), but you’ve uploaded them tagged as CC-BY (which allows commercial use and modification). Have the NPG also released them under CC-BY, if so do you have anything confirming this? January (talk) 09:08, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message January. I am new to this and it looks like I have made a mistake which I am going to have to rectify; These images are for non-commercial use. Graemp (talk) 15:45, 6 October 2013 (UTC) I have tried altering the licence code but WC just flags them for speedy deletion. I have emailed them to ask if they can move all the files over to wikipedia where it seems that all non-commercial stuff must go. If you have a better idea, please let me know.Graemp (talk) 16:31, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately Commons doesn't accept non-commercial or no derivatives licenses (see COM:L#Acceptable licenses), this also applies on English Wikipedia unless the image meets fair use criteria. January (talk) 17:52, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

NPG copyright issues[edit]

I hear you and will cooperate. Good luck ! Those are the only two such images I've transferred to Commons. Appeared to me that they were now in Public domain. But I'll sit back. I've requested the two images be deleted from Commons due to copyright violation. Rcbutcher (talk) 08:01, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File:William Beddoe Rees.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
