File:Morningstar.gif has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

File:Voting Age - Global.svg[edit]

I think the colours used for age 20 and 17, and 18 and 16 are too similar to each other and can lead to confusion, especially for those with sight issues. Could you please change these colours to be more different from each other? Helper201 (talk) 18:05, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Logotipo del Gobierno de la Ciudad de Cruz del Eje 2.png. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Thanks for uploading File:Dr. Marcelo Martinez-Ferro.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Dr. Marcelo Martinez-Ferro.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Licencia PD-AR-Gov[edit]

Fma12 (talk) 15:12, 21 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gracias Goldsztern (talk) 22:48, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Coloring maps[edit]

Hello. I've just tried for the first time to start creating color-coded maps for the Commons using Inkscape. I'm still struggling with the finer points of it and had a bunch of questions (including whether there was some shortcut to selecting entire countries including their surrounding islands without having to manually find each tiny island and determine to which nation it belongs without any labels). Are there any resources you can point me to other than the very barebones Wikipedia:Coloring cartographic maps article? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Denniscabrams (talk) 15:33, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, unfortunately I can't help you since I don't use Inkscape. All the maps I create are made using Illustrator. If there is anything you need, don't hesitate to ask. Goldsztern (talk) 05:18, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2022 voting is open![edit]

2022 Picture of the Year: Saint John Church of Sohrol in Iran.

Read this message in your language

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Age of consent global map. Your edit is correct, but another user randomly edits it.[edit]

Hello,

The user Wolfman5678 insists on editing the map you reverted yesterday. This user has been randomly changing the legal age in Mexico to "17" or "18" for months, using a website outside the laws of Mexico as a reference.

México laws fits aomung the current version https://leyes-mx.com/ https://salutsexual.sidastudi.org/es/registro/a53b7fb36b236a6d016be10e426a02bd

Four people have told him to please add references to his changes, but he continues to edit without consulting or discussing the matter. LIZGALE (talk) 18:02, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

File Renaming Decline[edit]

Please read COM:FNC first, as accurate criteria is mentioned there. Footnote 4 says:

Just because images share a category does not mean that they are part of a set. There are two scenarios that this criterion is designed for. First, certain complex templates (such as those that use BSicons or that display football kits) assume that the images used in them will follow a specific naming convention. Wikisource also uses a specific naming convention for the source files they transcribe. Second, files that form parts of a whole (such as scans from the same book or large images that are divided into smaller portions due to Commons’ upload size restriction) should follow the same naming convention so that they appear together, in order, in categories and lists.

Thanks for you work. LR0725 [ Talk | Contribs ] 06:31, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

File:Age of Consent - Central America.svg[edit]

The age of consent in the Central American country of Honduras is 14-years-old. This is cited on this Wikipedia page. Could you please update this map to show this? If I have made a mistake and Honduras is not on this map then can you please add Honduras to it? Helper201 (talk) 01:09, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. GPSLeo (talk) 13:48, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Exact duplicate[edit]

Hi. Exact duplicate is very specific for a speedy deletion, and your recent nomination did not meet that criteria.  — billinghurst sDrewth 10:37, 26 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Flag of Manaus[edit]

The Manaus flag And coat of arms you posted is an old version, the current and official one redesigned in 2D was posted by Naldo Aruda. It would be interesting to revert and update.

Hi. Can I ask that you please apply a higher level of review prior to marking files as duplicate. The test is very high for duplicate, and many of the flags that you nominated failed. Thanks.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:08, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please note this comment. Your nominations are not always in line with the policy, and I shouldn't have to reject a file for a second time. Please would you also check a file's history prior to nominating.  — billinghurst sDrewth 09:54, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please read this policy page, and not overwrite existing images. Thanks.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:25, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Afghan mujahideen roundels[edit]

Heyo, I've got a copy of a book on the air forces in use by the different groups in Afghanistan during the Civil War, one of the pages has a really great illustrated chart of all the roundels in use, do you want me to share it with you if you're planning on making any of them? NorthTension (talk) 22:02, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the delay in the response. If it is the book I think it is, I already found it on the internet. Anyway, thanks, I plan to do the remaining roundels for Afghanistan.  Goldsztern  ✶  14:06, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's Wings over the Hindu Kush, so I'm assuming we're probably talking about the same thing then lmao, do you have a digital version of it? In any case I look forward to seeing it! NorthTension (talk) 06:07, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have sent you a copy of the book on Discord in “Wikimedia Community” :) AfghanParatrooper19891 (talk) 16:27, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

PDRY roundel[edit]

I actually found an old pic of the roundel of the PDRY and have made an svg for it; could you allow the overwriting of the file.

File:Roundel of South Yemen (1980–1990).svg

the old image Abo Yemen 10:43, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Abo Yemen. I already uploaded a new version, thanks for sharing that photo with me. The roundel on which I had based myself was the one that appears at [1], not in the image but in the photo that appears at the end, that roundel has the widest sky-blue zone, the star smaller (and in the same direction as that of the flag) and it has what appears to be a ribbon and a dove (I think). But there is actually no photo on that page about the one you shared. Do you by chance have a photo of the version of this page but sharper? It seems to be another version and I would like to make it an .svg. I have only found a postcard of the same plane but the roundel is not visible. I don't think I can do much without knowing Arabic.  Goldsztern  ✶  13:57, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
in the first photo in the website that you have sent, first plane has a (wrong?) flag of south yemen at least compared to the one on wikipedia rn (star is way too big and is not tilted) could this mean south yemen had a different version of the flag?reverse image searching shows that this picture was taken in 15 july 1969. 2nd thing is the bird variant, we could make an svg version of it and call it a roundel variant seen on an an-24; although I think that that roundel might be the ensign of the air force of south yemen but i am still not sure. Panama map color replacement[edit]

Hi. Could you replace the color of the map of Panama with the light blue color on the map in the article Age of sexual consent?. The age of sexual consent in Panama is 14 years and older Camilo15 (talk) 03:23, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

According to the article Ages of consent in North America#Panama it's too confusing, I still think it's fine the way it is.  Goldsztern  ✶  12:59, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom[edit]

Could you please help make a variant based on this coat of arms but removing the Hanoverian shield in the middle, as this type of coat of arms has been used in the past (as a variant) but there is currently no similar svg image on Wikimedia Commons. You can name the modified file Coat of Arms of United Kingdom (1837) and upload it independently.

Not him, his crown is different, I need a version with St. Edward's Crown instead of the Tudor crown, while the harp in the coat of arms remains the same.175.182.38.21 07:24, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, the main thing to do is to remove the small coat of arms in the middle of the coat of arms. After removal, the middle part of the coat of arms should look like the second picture.,No need to make changes to the crown or harp part (it would be easier if you use the svg I sent you) 2401:E180:8891:4734:5534:CA0A:8596:5C86 16:02, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
