Warning to All[edit]

I strongly advise everyone to stop uploading images to Wikipedia because they are taken to Commons where if you find that you've made an honest mistake and attempt to rectify it - this is what happens to you: [1] [2]. Easier to nip the problem in the bud and don't upload anything.  Giano  08:42, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You have been unblocked and the file deleted per the talk here. PumpkinSky talk 10:03, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Notice for an undeletion request that involves you[edit]

Jcb has raised a request at Commons:Undeletion_requests/Current_requests#File:Sale_1.jpg, I am taking action to ensure you stay appropriately informed. Thanks -- (talk) 18:06, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's all been a great pity. I trust the admin concerned will be desysopped - or is his behaviour acceptable here? Giano (talk) 19:53, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: Jcb has been the subject of two de-adminship discussions: #1 (not successful) and #2 (desysoped). He was eventually resysoped here -FASTILY 21:24, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
...and what exactly is being done about this lamentable situation? I take it that there is some form of ruling body here - some entity is running the show? No, I though perhaps there wasn't. Well so much the easier to close it down then. Giano (talk) 21:52, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Giano, several experienced Commons-ists have stepped in to help you rather than look the other way; in particular INeverCry is trusted with the checkuser tools, Fastily is one of our most experienced admins on deletion requests and I am one of the most active contributors to this project in terms of getting uploads done.
In my view Jcb's actions have been of concern, but so far I do not see a pattern of tool misuse that would justify a de-adminship vote and taking this to a vote based on one case may be seen by the wider community as unnecessary drama. If you wish to create a vote I strongly recommend you first discuss your experience and seek some alternative satisfaction on Administrators' noticeboard/User problems, otherwise there is a risk that a bureaucrat would close down the de-adminship vote due to a lack of prior community discussion. Unless others were to come forward with some evidence of past unnecessary block actions or a significant systematic pattern of handling speedy deletion requests poorly or in a hostile manner, I personally would not vote to de-sysop Jcb, however to repeat, I do not find his handling of your request, nor the block of your account here acceptable. An admission that they should have handled this better, a commitment to improve and a direct apology to you from Jcb would go a long way to putting things right. It is disappointing that Jcb's actions today in creating an undeletion request appeared instead to escalate, and seems evidence that they do not yet accept any failure on their part.
I hope that Jcb gets the point, especially in the light of their previous de-sysop, that should problems with their use of sysop tools arise during 2014, a de-admin vote is quite likely to be created and this case will not be easily forgotten by us.
I would like to apologise for your poor experience on this project due to the actions of one admin. If you would like to discuss any copyright/courtesy deletion issues or run into problems with future uploads, drop a note on my talk page or email me in confidence, as I have experience in getting these done with rather less drama through my OTRS volunteer work. -- (talk) 00:14, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You don't notice a pattern? He has been desysopped once already for this type of behaviour - then there was another attempt to desysop him, then foolishly his tools were returned and his behaviour continues; now, you claim that you don't see a pattern. That really is quite an extraordinary statement. If I have any problems in future with uploads (which I doubt) I shall deal with them on EN Wikipedia (where I uploaded them) and leave you here in complete ignorance. I am grateful to those editors who assisted me here, but I can't help wondering how others less well known on the English Wikipedia survive - perhaps they don't survive? I think this place is run like a private club for the amusements of the inmates, and it doesn't appear that anyone is prepared to change that. Therefore, it looks as though I will have to rectify that, but I will be doing so from Wikipedi, where the behaviour here can be more freely discussed and assessed. Giano (talk) 08:15, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The idea that en.wp is a freer place for discussion is quite untrue. You are free to discuss your case on AN/U and you will find admins there helpful so long as you present a case in a civil way. In comparison, you are complaining about your experience on Jimmy Wales' user talk page where due to Jimmy's preferences, I am unable to respond or help, even when I am being directly quoted or misrepresented—hardly an open discussion. -- (talk) 08:44, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have no idea what AN/U is. However, I have never uploaded a single image to this place, so what on earth makes you think this is the place for me to discuss the matter? If one's burgled in real life, then coshed over the head by the burglar's accomplice - does one go to the burglar's house to rationally discuss the problem with him or does one go to the police station? Commons have made it quite clear that JcB has not committed any crime worthy of de-admining, so there is little point discussing it here - so it will be discussed by those who kindly provide you with your images and material. 08:55, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
Sorry, here's the link again Administrators' noticeboard/User problems. -- (talk) 10:26, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There is not much meaning in asking an inexperience user to run for satisfying all formalities to get a piece of justice. If an admin or any other user misbehaved here, the best thing he can do is to make an apology. Glad to see many other users and admins handled it nicely.
Other thing we can do is to make precautionary measures to avoid such cases in future. After reading this, I assume the root cause is our/wmf attempt to hide images are hosted in Commons. How an inexperienced user know what is Commons, what is Wikipedia etc. and the bureaucratic formalities here? I had checked my "browsing preference" as "Redirect image links to Commons for files that are hosted there" in all my wiki projects. I think there should be some transparencies in this matter to make people aware that image related requests should be done in Commons. Jee 10:52, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

(time passes) actually, that reminds me of all the thinking I've been doing lately about things that shouldn't be thought about really. I want to make a good award for my friend on commons for ages, but drawing it is hard. I'm lazy. It is less than half done because it is all animated, and HARD like slave labor in a Korean-out-house-come-animation-sweatshop-with-barbed-wire-hard. Then I was thinking of this less hard one, where there is an oval on it's side, like a picture of a rug. But it's not a rug, it's just a platform. It's all part of a another hampster-powered barnstar you see. I need a cutsie hamster again, something to shuffle into picture and stand on the platform as though it was in a spotlight. Then PING, hamster and platform disappear from view, and platform returns as you see the hamster travel the last of a parabola towards a point not at the horizon, but somewhat distant never the less, because the horizon is too far off to see the hamster-powered-barnstar target which is naturally the target that turns due to the kinetic energy of the furry little mammals. There is more than one of course, as my calculations indicate there'd need to be a steady stream in order to turn the heavy barnstar continuously. But I think too much, and worry that soon enough the authorities may find out about those impaled horsies and so on. hmm. Maybe I should just think Korean and do some more animation. Not Japanese, their animation is too detailed for me, I get exhausted just thinking about it. But something to squeeze into the time spent at the computer when i should be doing something else. OHNOESS! I just remember something else, bye!! Penyulap 13:02, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
