If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Obviously my own work ...
Obviously my own work ...

Dear Ellin Beltz and Hedwig in Washington, after a longer period of absence due to medical issues, I lately realized that you two deleted three of my pictures with the reasons given "copy vio" and "found elsewhere on the web and unlikely to be own work." Since that wording reflects declarative sentences and not assumptions, I would like to see the links to the pictures that you actually found on the internet: I couldn't find any myself, even by using VPNs geolocated in the US. The simple reason for that is that all three pictures are of course my very own work. I started contributing to Wikipedia in 2003, I'm not new to Wikimedia projects. Please assume that I'm familiar with the basic rules and regulations here. I have never uploaded anything "found elsewhere on the Internet" but exclusively my own works. In addition to that, if you had checked the meta data (EXIF) provided in all files, you would have found my camera name and all my other data. Since I know that you as admins can still see all that, please check on it now. With regard to the other argument, I couldn't figure out any copyright holder. As you can read in my article on hell money in the German Wikipedia project, this design is being used my numerous companies in China that produce hell money bills. It has evolved in the late 19th century from old US dollar bills, it's in fact older than 120 years. So, for my understanding, there is no copyright if there ever has one been. Another German admin told me that in such cases, I should have used the template {{author}} which is, frankly, new to me. The deletion requests had been initiated by two user from China. One of them has been deleted in the meantime, cf. 予弦 which I find striking, too. I unfortunately can't see their original remarks. To sum it up, I'm convinced that you two deleted my files below in error and would like you to ask to restore them. Best regards, GeoTrinity (talk) 12:47, 3 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi GeoTrinity The problem is not your photos, but the objects that were photographed. As you can see in the pictures that you just uploaded they were created by a company in China who presumably holds the copyright. I do not see any similarity between what was depicted and U.S. Currency. Please advise if you have further information. Ellin Beltz (talk) 20:02, 3 December 2019 (UTC)
GeoTrinity! Good to see you back in one piece (I hope). Regarding your uploads. There are no dates on the bills (did I miss them?), therefore the (c) status can not be determined. As a general rule, anonymous works are in the public domain 50 years after first publishing. If you can prove the date of first publication, or at the very least that the bills have been published +50 years ago, the photographs can be hosted on Commons. It doesn't matter when the use of this kind of money came to be. Well, not quite. IF your bills are true(!) replicas of public domain works, we might be getting somewhere. Please tag your other hell money uploads for deletion, if you can't establish the copyright status. It looks better than having someone else do it. Sorry, sometimes (c) is a real bitch. Again, good to have you back! Take it easy! C(_) --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 23:13, 3 December 2019 (UTC)

Hello Ellin Beltz and Hedwig in Washington, Thank you for your replies. Hell money is being produced not by one company in China but by at least 30, they all use the same design (and don't care for any copyright rights themselves). In the 19th century, the US dollar was widely in use in Southeast Asia as a stable de-facto currency, that's one of the reasons why the banknotes of the then Republic of China used a similar design for their official currency, too. Hell money always imitates the design of real money in order to fulfill its ritual purposes when burned. The problem is though that there is no year of printing on the bills, therefore I can't prove that the design is decades old. I'm highly frustrated and give in: I'm simply too unmotivated to pay a library a visit in person. With regard to the demonstration picture above, just delete it right away (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:GeoTrinity.jpg), so that I can archive this rather unpleasant topic. Thanks for uploading File:GT-Höllengeld Shenzhen 1.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:GT-Höllengeld Shenzhen 1.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.
