thx for using meaningful categories[edit]
Hi, please, before you intend to replace categories, that it is a meaningful category, p.e. some minutes ago,
- you replaced Category:Caves of India by
- you added Category:Hero stone to Category:Viirakkal [a synonym and a non-existing category]
- you added to a single upload Category:Temple tanks in Karnataka [it was already categorized by Category:Agastya Lake + Category:Bhutanatha temples, i.e. that image was so-called over-categorized]
- etc.
So you have questions, please feel free to contact the help desk, thank you Roland 18:25, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
- I'm very sorry. Probably it would be better if I didn't add categories, as I find them very hard to navigate. I added Category:Hero stone when I finally found the category Category:Viirakkal after hunting for quite a time and finding it accidentally. I was was told I must add categories, but it sounds like it would be best if I don't. Thanks for letting me know. Farrajak (talk) 18:36, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know. I added bunches to the unidentified images which were probably wrong also, so I'll stop. Thanks! Farrajak (talk) 18:39, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Farrajak, thank you for your response, no problem, i'im convinced it was good faith. I also fixed Temple tanks in India, because I think the 'system' is working fine and established a 'redirect'.
- Ref. "Viirakkal", please feel free to also establish a so-called 'redirect', p.e. {category redirect|Hero stones} (with double "{}", usually plural} :-) You're welcome and please have fun, Roland 18:48, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
Copyright status: File:Chico-ca-1856.jpg[edit]
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Chico-ca-1856.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Hi, as I tried to point before, please use meaningful categories, p.e. [that re-categorisation] 'typical':
- Category:Jain women from India + Category:Female journalists from India + Category:Journalists from the United States
instead of
- Category:Jaipur + Category:Film directors from India by state or territory + Category:Bangalore + Category:Musicians from India + Category:Journalists from India
So you have questions, please feel free to contact the help desk, thank you, Roland 20:14, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
- Probably it would be better if I didn't add more than one category, or perhaps I shouldn't be trying to add categories at all to anything more than simple places. I'm sorry I categorized the Female journalist and won't try anything like that again. There's no way I would know enough to add all the categories you are suggesting. Thanks for your feedback. Meaningful names[edit]
I noticed that you uploaded Hanuman20.jpg as Modification for perspective and saturation.jpg. This doesn't really tell a reader anything about what the file depicts, so I've moved it to Hanuman temple Nurawa Eliya.jpg Jimfbleak (talk) 09:58, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
Category:Villages_and_towns_in_Kenya has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |
