File:London_Underground.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Category discussion notification Category:Alcoholics has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.
In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

your Flickr-review[edit]

Hi Electron, could you explain this edit from yesterday. Less then 20 hours later, the original image is "(C) ARR" at its Flickr source. --Túrelio (talk) 08:33, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I try to do my work well. Might be the Flickr's user have changed the licence. To say the truth I don't remember exactly... Is there the chance that is was my mistake, too. Regards Electron  <Talk?> 08:43, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So there has been no special agreement on behalf of you or the uploader with the rights holder to temporarily change the license from ARR to CC-BY-SA? --Túrelio (talk) 08:53, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No. Now I have sarched the others pictures on Flikr by Jeremiah Christopher and they are mainly all under ARR license. So I can rather say that it might be my mistake. Nobody's perfect... :( Electron  <Talk?> 09:04, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks. I've speedy-tagged the image now. --Túrelio (talk) 09:10, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Thanks for the info and your intervention. Electron  <Talk?> 09:14, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
For what it's worth, I also had a look at the file yesterday (primarily because I had a suspicion that Adlek neuy may be a sockpuppet of blocked Flickrwasher Warholmuze), and I found the file to be correctly tagged (and contrary to Warholmuze's previous upload of the same file, this one comes from a legitimate Flickr account). So you did not make a mistake in your review. LX (talk, contribs) 09:25, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your confirmation. As I remember now it was rather CC-BY-SA or similar but I am not sure... Electron  <Talk?> 09:40, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm quite sure. If I'd seen an incorrectly licensed Flickr file from a suspected sockpuppet of a blocked Flickrwasher (which is what I expected, so I wasn't wearing my wishful thinking goggles), I would have made some noise about it. LX (talk, contribs) 09:48, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK. For additional confirmation I post the question on Flickr's file page -> http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeremiahchristopher/2155165442/in/photostream . Maybe the author will clarify it... Electron  <Talk?> 09:54, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Questions[edit]

While ive got you talking in regards to this image I wonder if you could answer some questions so I could better understand all this.

So I understand that the Fire Lord image would be classed as a derivative work as an action figure. But what about a simple Lego minifigure with a street cleaner. Is this simple enough not to meet the threshold of originality and therefore free to use? Salavat (talk) 09:29, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

CC 3.0 unported?[edit]

I am having a trouble with the lic.s

Wikipedia says, "must allow commercial reuse"

I know CC Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 unported is acceptable?

CC Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 generic is not?

Is ONLY 3.0 unported with "share alike" ok?

Is ONLY "share alike" okay? (and therefore CC Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 unported, too)

Fleetham (talk) 16:11, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Now I think, for CC-lic.: must have ShareAlike, must not have NonCommercial Fleetham (talk) 17:27, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Witaj.

Przypominam pkt 5. "correct obvious errors in file names" czyli nazwy z oczywistymi błędami, które mogą propagować błędy. Dodanie tylko polskich liter powoduje dużą ilość pracy którą trzeba wykonać, a nic nie poprawia. Spójrz także na COM:MOVE#What_files_should_not_be_renamed.3F. Dziękuję JDavid (talk) 09:33, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Serjio-pt (talk) 17:16, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Serjio-pt (talk) 13:00, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
In my opinion this image has not interest at all. Zero ! Thats why I nominated it for deletion. But of course, I accept the consensus. But why adding Category:women in France ? The girl should live in US, Swaziland or China. It doesnt matter for the photo and its subject about washing.
I simply try to refine categories such as men in France, women of France, Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean sea, because these categories are (were) crowded.--Civa (talk) 16:51, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate uploads[edit]

Hi, I am just reversing the {{Duplicate}} tags on illustrations from Jules Vernes books, eg File:Chateaucarpathes1.jpg. Looking carefully at the images that you uploaded from http://jv.gilead.org.il/rpaul/ I see the files are slightly larger than our ones, but they were created a month after our ones (Nov 2007) and they have a JPEG comment of "http://www.RenePaul.net " and "Copyright Notice http://www.RenePaul.net". I can detect no visual difference between the files. It looks to me as though the size difference is simply because he edited them to add his notices. I expect he got them from Commons or the same source as our uploader. So our policy is to keep the original upload and not replace them with copies that have boomeranged back :-) --Tony Wills (talk) 05:54, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

After the two duplicates were deleted, I created a link from File:'The_Carpathian_Castle'_by_Léon_Benett_33.jpg to File:Chateaucarpathes1.jpg as File:Chateaucarpathes1.jpg was in use in many places and didn't want to give the overloaded delinker more work. In the case of File:Chateaucarpathes4.jpg I did move it to File:'The Carpathian Castle' by Léon Benett 37.jpg to complete the set. But I have no real problem with moving the other one too so long as we keep the redirects. I will drop a note to the admin who did the original duplicate deletion, just in case he is now confused :-).
At some stage I will delete the copy fraud JPEG comment fields from the remaining images if I can not find and more of the original set. --Tony Wills (talk) 22:23, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

W sprawie grafiki[edit]

Zgodnie z prawem niemieckim z 10 stycznia 1876 r. - okres prawa autorskiego obejmował jedynie 5 lat, według prawa z 9 stycznia 1907 r. - 10 lat i 25 okres ochrony po śmierci autora, według prawa z 12 maja 1940 r. wydłużony został do 25 lat. Prawo autorskie z 9 września 1965 r. rozróżnia twórczość intelektualną (utwór) § 68 i 72 - ujmuje dalej okres 25 lat.
Pozdrawiam Kargul1965 (talk) 15:13, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File:Darth Vader costume.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not.

Franz San Galli pictures[edit]

Dear Mr. Electron,

April 2009 we have been in contact about the pictures if my uncle Franz San Galli and their use by everybody. You told they are in public domain because of their age. OK, everybody may use them under the following conditions, because they are not in public domain: I have been really working on them (2004?) like on hundreds of pictures of my family, these photos going back to approximately 1868. You can find my tips for this kind of work on http://www.gruner-fam.de/BilderArchiv.html .

So what I claim is putting my name as origin and overworker af these pictures. I have been working years to find them, and also to learn how to make them look much better. I have been supporting the author of a Russian book about my oncle, and there I eaven did not have to ask for being mentioned in it.

Bye. Yours

Andreas Gruner, Bonn

Dear Mr. Andreas Gruner,
Thank you for your kindly permission. I appreciate your hard work and time you contributed to collect the photos of your known family. But to say the truth a retouch or digital improvement of the file is not the thing that gives the authorship (as e.g. a retouch or a conservation of a painting doesn't give the author's rights).
I have add the date about your family photos archive and put your name as an overworker on each of the files. If there are some mistakes or inaccuracy you can fix it yourselfe, as well (because everybody can edit here, on Wikimedia Commons).

Pay attention to copyright
File:White Dove With Olive Branch.JPG has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

wersja pliku[edit]

Inne serwery – brak problemu. / Andrzej 22 (talk) 17:27, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File:Brave_Men.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not.

Thank you!

File:The Ghosts Project, Jill Tracy.jpg[edit]

File:The Ghosts Project, Jill Tracy.jpg is from 2008, not 1908. I believe it's OK, though, as I've explained in rewriting the permissions section of that page. But do be careful about this sort of thing! - Jmabel ! talk 01:27, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
