Evanescence[edit]

Hi, since WikiCommons is meant to be a repository for images released by the copyright owner under a free license, please do not upload fair use images such as movie posters or album covers. Those images can not legally be used by anybody for any purpose. The Evanescence album covers have been deleted. Thuresson 01:25, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This applies to all images that you find on websites—just because they appear on a website does not mean that they are copyright free, or that the copyright holder has released them for free use. You're right; I should have left an explanation on your talk page; sorry I acted curtly. Note, however, that with an attribution required licence you do NOT get to claim to be the author of a photo taken by someone else because you cropped the photo. Your version was a violation of the license requirements of the original. The photographer still needs to be credited as the author. Hi Eacz12, the criteria for voting goes on to say, "You must have all those edits on a single account. Even if you have multiple eligible accounts, you can only vote once." You are voting under an account which doesn't have those edits. The eligible account is Armando12. That's why I suggested merging them; using a single account on both Commons and the English Wikipedia, that way you will have a single eligible account. I suppose a plus is that it will make things less confusing for you and for others. Anyway, when I finally realised you had another account, I stopped removing your votes. That doesn't mean that others won't remove them, of course. Maedin\^talk 08:17, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Having a unified login is a single identifier across multiple projects; it isn't the same as just "having the same username". It's also sometimes called a global account. If you check out my SUL (single unified login) status here, you can see that I have an account at enwiktionary, even though I've never logged in there or edited there. The benefit is that your username can't be taken by someone on projects that you might want to edit someday, and, as you can see at the bottom of that page, you get a total edit account, across all the projects.

Here's a page to explain unified login, and this one is probably what you will need to first merge Eacz12 with Armando12, or Armando12 with Eacz12, whichever way you prefer to go.
