Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Ciao, come te la cavi con le categorizzazioni auto9matiche tramite template?[edit]

Io continuo ad avere un buco di comprensione... Per cercare di dare una categorizzazione in più per la Basilicata ho preso come esempio le categorie per anno della Toscana sostanzialmente copiaincollando quello che già era stato fatto ma, come tempo fa mi era già successo, per qualche motivo le categorie non si riempiono in automatico e nel giro di poco tempo qualche solerte patrollatore le cancellerà perché vuote (mai che si domandino perché sono state create e chiedere lumi o modificare i parametri loro stessi... sia mai...). Morale, se tu hai dimestichezza con i template potresti guardare cosa non funziona? giurato regionale toscano WLM[edit]

Ciao quest'anno la giuria regionale toscana avrà molto da lavorare per WLM2018. Come puoi intuire siamo molto più attivi degli scorsi anni, e gli indizi sembrano indicare che la Toscana probabilmente sarà la seconda regione per numero di immagini, avremo 4-5 volte più caricamenti che nel 2017. Dobbiamo allargare la base della giuria e aggiungere sia nuovi giurati "esterni" dal mondo del turismo e della fotografia che anche nuovi giurati wikimediani per mantenere l'equilibrio indicativo 50%-50%. Saresti interessato a partecipare come giurato regionale toscano? Il grosso del lavoro è il primo round di smistamento e diluito si fa pochi minuti al giorno in due settimane, o in un pomeriggio tutto assieme.

Per il resto, vedo che continui la tua opera di rifinitura e ti ringrazio. Se hai tempo puoi occuparti in modo specifico in queste settimane di revisionare Category:Images_from_Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2018_in_Italy_-_Tuscany sulle zone che conosci meglio? Le solite cose: ottimizzare elementi wikidata, crea sottocategorie mancanti e infine promuovere le foto migliori a qualità o vetrina o simili. Faccio il possibile ma sono tante e dopo due ore ogni giorni sono saturo... di fatto, un giurato esperto è soprattutto per me la certezza che farà qua e là manutenzione su alcune delle foto che si trova sotto mano e questa è un'ottima cosa in genenrale.--Alexmar983 (talk) 11:44, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Guarda ho fatto il possibile da luglio perché si parlasse a modo dell'Import MIBACT... ho fatto una pagina di raccordo d:Wikidata talk:WikiProject Italy/Import MIBACT per evitare che ci siano discussioni frammentate, voglio che ci sia una traccia di lavoro chiara e un monito per il futuro a tutti su come non si propone un import massiccio. Per il resto il giurato valuta le foto esteticamente. Il resto del lvoro che tocca ai giurati wikimediani (miglior categoire, inserire infobix wikidata dove si nota che mancano, riusare per P18... quello è un di più che fai en passant se hai tempo)--Alexmar983 (talk) 15:09, 11 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Il regolamento te lo riassumo in mail ma la cosa importante è rimuovere un 50-60% di foto mediocri. Sul lavoro di verifica per licenze, categorizzazione si fa il possibile e ci sto dedicando anche io qualche oretta al giorno ma non è chiave per la figura del giurato. Mi manca qualche giurato per la mail ma se vuoi link cerca "regolamento wikilovesmonuments" sulla barra e ti scarica un pdf. Se ho la mail te lo mando subito. Leggi anche Commons:Montage, anche se è un po' tecnico. Infine dai un'occhiata a Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2017_in_Italy/Tuscany/Round_1 per la qualità delle foto che in genere si cerca di portare oltre il primo round di selezione. Ah dimenticavo vedo un avviso di una foto di qualità/vetrina promossa a cui hai partecipato probabilmente alla procedura. Potresti se la cosa ti piace e se in queste settimane se hai tempo proporre qualcuna delle foto qui Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2017_in_Italy/Tuscany/Round_2? Wiki Loves Monuments 2019 in Toscana è iniziato[edit]

Dopo mesi di lavoro Wiki Loves Monuments sta è iniziato alcune ore fa anche in Toscana. Il caricamento è aperto fino al 30 di settembre.

Qui potete valutare quanto è stato liberato finora. Fra i nuovi beni già trascritti abbiamo proprietà da Aulla, Comano, Lucca, Careggine, Coreglia Antelminelli, San Miniato, Calcinaia, Cascina, Pontedera, Ponsacco, Capannoli, Pomarance, Prato, Carmignano, Poggio a Caiano, Cantagallo, Vernio, Sesto Fiorentino, Scarperia e San Piero, Rignano sull'Arno, San Godenzo, Barberino Tavernelle, Dicomano, Fucecchio, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Santa Fiora, Castell'Azzarra e nuove adesioni da Pescia e Piombino.

Nuove liberatorie (probabilmente Massa, Carrara, Palaia, Vaiano, Scandicci, Palazzuolo sul Senio, Castel Focognano e Bucine) continueranno a arrivare nei prossimi giorni quindi ricontrolla sempre gli elenchi a cadenza regolare.

Wiki Loves Monuments 2019 in Toscana - nuovi beni aderenti[edit]

Gentili fotografi, un ultimo aggiornamento in vista dei prossimi week end. Segnaliamo che dal primo settembre si sono aggiunti per WLM2019 nuovi beni a Pescia, Cascina, Careggine, Pomarance, Vinci e Castelfiorentino. Sono inoltre state trascritte delibere provenienti per la prima volta anche dai comuni di Massa, Carrara, Rufina, Follonica e San Vincenzo. Date un'occhiata perché non è escluso che arrivino ancora altre adesioni integrative all'ultimo minuto.

La cerimonia di premiazione di WLM2019 regionale si terrà a Pescia il giorno 1 dicembre alle h. 17:00, come comunicato anche su Facebook. Qui il volantino.

Tutti i finalisti del secondo round sono invitati a prendere un premio (gli altri partecipanti possono anche essi prenderne uno, ma dopo che avranno ritirato i loro premi i finalisti)

Il 23 novembre, come comunicato anche su Facebook è prevista anche la cerimonia di premiazione locale di Prato e provincia presso la Biblioteca Lazzerini.

Stiamo organizzando Wiki Loves Monuments per il 2020.

Il concorso si tiene a settembre ma ci muoviamo con anticipo. Purtroppo non all'inizio della primavera come altri anni a causa dell'emergenza COVID-19, ma abbiamo iniziato a fine maggio dopo una pausa di due mesi. Puoi consultare in questa pagina il lavoro in corso.

Ci sono monumenti (o intere amministrazioni) che mancano vicino alla tua zona di interesse? Fallo presente e vedremo di fare il possibile!

Prossimo aggiornamento a inizio luglio, con i comuni nuovi sicuramente aderenti e le integrazioni.

Wiki Loves Monuments 2020 in Toscana sta per iniziare[edit]

Continua la preparazione di Wiki Loves Monuments per il 2020.

Manca una settimana alla partenza e per chi fosse già in giro ricordiamo le nuove località aderenti, già riportate nelle nostre liste in costante aggiornamento.

Nel 2020 hanno completato l'iter di ampliamento le amministrazioni di Cascina, Pomarance, Pescia, Empoli, San Quirico d'Orcia, Chiusi, Santa Fiora e Piombino, mentre hanno aderito per la prima volta a tempo indefinito il Museo delle Aviotruppe di Pisa e i comuni di Pescaglia, Gallicano, Camaiore, Santa Croce sull'Arno, Casale Marittimo, Quarrata, Montelupo Fiorentino, Buonconvento, Pratovecchio Stia, Sansepolcro, Castiglion Fiorentino, Anghiari, Badia Tedalda e Campiglia Marittima. Ci sono anche adesioni solo per il 2020 di alcune dimore storiche attorno a Pisa.

Risultano al momento richieste formali o informali di partecipazione o ampliamento della copertura da un'altra ventina di enti e amministrazioni, alcune delle quali potrebbero concretizzarsi nelle prossime due settimane. Fate attenzione che alcune delle adesioni solo per l'edizione 2019 nel nord della provincia di Prato e del comune di Massa non saranno probabilmente confermate, ma non sono ancora state rimosse dalle liste.

Il prossimo aggiornamento riporterà i volantini in più lingue e gli ultimi sviluppi sulle adesioni.

Ricordiamo che la premiazione 2020 si terrà a Prato.

Wiki Loves Monuments 2020 in Toscana è in corso[edit]

Ciao, un messaggio da alcune utenze del gruppo locale Toscana

Gazie alla preparazione e al vostro impegno, WLM è un successo in regione anche per questa edizione. Siamo stabilmente primi per caricamenti a livello nazionale: qui potete vedere alcune statistiche. Al momento risultano più reattive le province di Livorno, Siena, Pisa, Prato e Firenze.

Fra i nuovi beni aderenti confermati, e inseriti nelle liste, segnaliamo i comuni di Castel del Piano, Montignoso e la Domus Mazziniana di Pisa. Ci sono nuovi beni anche dal comune di Santa Fiora. Sono comunque in corso le verifiche sulla proprietà di alcuni edifici religiosi. C'è invece un aggiornamento nella lista di San Vincenzo, che aveva autorizzato annualmente nel 2019 e ha ridotto i beni aderenti. Per quanto riguarda le foto panoramiche, vengono smistate direttamente nelle categorie dei comuni e richiedono maggiore manutenzione, quindi vi preghiamo se possibile la cortesia di posticipare il loro caricamento a fine mese quando avremo più tempo di occuparcene.

La campagna sociale in concerto su tutti e tre i canali (per Facebook la pagina Wiki Loves Toscana) prevede ogni quattro giorni una serie divulgativa sulle foto delle edizioni precedenti in bianco e nero (caricate progressivamente qui su Commons) alternata a una serie sulle foto migliori dell'edizione in corso. Ogni giorno nel tardo pomeriggio o prima serata solo su Twitter e Facebook (gruppo ToscanaWiki) viene inoltre postata una foto fra quelle giunte predligendo varibailità di luogo e tema.

Da domani sarà possibile caricare di nuovo le foto, fino al 30 settembre!

Come ogni anno, e questo è il decimo anniversario, torna Wiki Loves Monuments, il concorso fotografico più grande al mondo che negli anni ha coinvolto quasi 50 nazioni e più di 15.000 persone e hanno prodotto un database di oltre 360.000 immagini di monumenti, patrimonio culturale dell’umanità intera a disposizione di tutti su Wikimedia Commons.

Con la tua partecipazione hai sostenuto lo sviluppo turistico del nostro Paese perché rende disponibili a tutti le sue bellezze. L’obiettivo è la valorizzazione dell’immenso patrimonio culturale italiano sul web. Le fotografie dei monumenti vengono condivise su Wikimedia Commons, il grande database di immagini di Wikipedia, con licenza libera CC-BY-SA. Wiki Loves Monuments contribuisce infatti a diffondere la filosofia di Wikimedia Italia e di tutti i progetti wiki, che si basano sulla libera condivisione della cultura.

L’Italia nelle sue prime 9 edizioni (dal 2012 al 2020) conta 145.000 immagini 15.000 monumenti, 2.000 fotografi, 2.000 enti. Uno dei 2.000 fotografi sei tu e quindi anche quest’anno non puoi mancare, partecipa!!!

Wiki Loves Monuments 2021 in Toscana è in corso[edit]

Gazie alla preparazione e al vostro impegno, WLM è un buon successo in regione anche per questa edizione. Siamo stabilmente secondi per caricamenti a livello nazionale: qui e qui si possono consultare alcune statistiche. Al momento risultano meno reattive le province di Prato e di Grosseto.

Fra i nuovi beni inseriti nelle liste segnaliamo da parte dei comuni sempre più ampliamenti rispetto alle nuove adesioni, mentre continuano ad aggiungersi sempre più beni privati. Tutte le liberatorie annunciate da quest'anno anche su Instagram sono da ritenersi verificate. Potrebbero arrivare comuni a fine mese al momento ancora in via di approvazione.

Per quanto riguarda le foto panoramiche, vengono inviate direttamente nelle categorie dei comuni e richiedono spesso la creazione di varie sottocategorie; per questo motivo vi preghiamo di non inviare troppe foto simili, dovendole in seguito smistare a mano.

La campagna sui tre canali sociali (per Facebook sia pagina che gruppo) prevede come nel 2020 una serie divulgativa con le foto delle edizioni precedenti in bianco e nero (caricate qui su Commons) alternata a una serie sulle foto migliori dell'edizione 2021, inframmezzate con più infografiche generali. Ogni giorno solo su Twitter e Facebook (gruppo ToscanaWiki) viene inoltre postata una foto fra quelle giunte prediligendo variabilità di luogo e tema.

Wiki Loves Monuments 2022 in Toscana[edit]

L'edizione 2022 di Wiki Loves Monuments ha concluso giorni fa il suo processo selettivo.

Quest'anno non abbiamo segnalato in corso d'opera perché abbiamo avuto delle metriche di adesione molto più alte rispetto agli ultimi anni, quindi incentivare il caricamento sarebbe stato controproducente per i partecipanti più occasionali. Probabilmente il prossimo anno ci sarà un calo fisiologico, e conviene pertanto preparare i vostri scatti per il 2023.

I semifinalisti, come ogni edizione, sono invitati alla cerimonia di premiazione che quest'anno si terrà nel tardo pomeriggio di sabato 28 gennaio p.v. a Montespertoli (FI) presso il Museo della Vite e del Vino.

Qui i risultati finali, che saranno annunciati a breve sui canali sociali. Seguite quelli per ulteriori aggiornamenti.

@DnaX: Hi, the file 5050 SMD RGB LED is a normal SMD RGB LED, for each color there are independent LEDs, so no active circuits to make it addressable. So let this file to be reverted to the original category. Thanks, Mister rf (talk) 14:12, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Anche quest’anno torna Wiki Loves Monuments: da oggi al 30 settembre puoi partecipare caricando le tue foto per contribuire a illustrare il patrimonio culturale italiano: vai sul sito wikilovesmonuments.it e scopri come fare!

Oltre ai 20.000 monumenti già in concorso, quest’anno si aggiungono più di 60.000 edifici religiosi, tema centrale di quest’edizione. Prendi la tua macchina fotografica, o il tuo smartphone, e individua i monumenti in concorso tramite la nuova web-app – disponibile sia da mobile che desktop – app.wikilovesmonuments.it, da cui potrai anche caricare direttamente i tuoi scatti. Sono ammesse anche foto scattate prima del concorso, purché siano inedite.

A livello nazionale verranno premiate le dieci migliori fotografie: cinque per gli edifici religiosi e cinque per le altre categorie di monumenti; queste immagini parteciperanno anche alla fase internazionale del concorso. Non sono ammesse immagini con watermark o cornici, né fotografie eccessivamente elaborate in postproduzione. È stato un anno da record, con oltre 52.000 immagini caricate su Wikimedia Commons, di cui già 2.800 utilizzate sui progetti Wikimedia (numero destinato ad aumentare). Stiamo davvero documentando il patrimonio culturale italiano insieme!

How to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category[edit]

When you want to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category, best practice is to mark it with {{SD|C2}} (if it would be OK to re-create it in the future, given that appropriate content becomes available) or {{SD|C1}} (if it is an inappropriate category name that should not be reused). L'edizione 2023 di Wiki Loves Monuments si è conclusa.

Lo scorso anno non avevamo segnalato l'inizio del concorso perché abbiamo avuto delle metriche di adesione più alte rispetto agli ultimi anni, quindi incentivare il caricamento sarebbe stato controproducente per i partecipanti più occasionali.

Anche quest'anno l'adesione è stata alta (anzi nettamente più alta), probabilmente perché c'erano molte foto di chiese (la novità di quest'anno) negli archivi dei partecipanti storici e per questo non è stato inviato un messaggio durante settembre, mantenendo la strategia di massimizzare la promozione durante gli anni di minore partecipazione.

I finalisti son stati nel frattempo selezionati e annunciati. Qui troverete il riepiligo con i vincitori. Continuate a seguire i nostri canali social per ulteriori informazioni riguardanti la cerimonia di premiazione, che avrà luogo a Piombino nei prossimi mesi. Tutti i semifinalisti sono cordialmente invitati a partecipare.

L'edizione 2023 di Wiki Loves Monuments si concluderà a breve con la cerimonia regionale.

I semifinalisti, come ogni edizione, sono invitati alla cerimonia di premiazione che quest'anno si terrà dalle 16:00 alle 18:00 di sabato 16 marzo p.v. a Piombino (LI) nella sala consiliare.

Come sempre, si consiglia di seguire i canali sociali.

File:Maryhill Museum - gilded wood furniture from Cotroceni Palace 01.jpg etc.[edit]

It seems odd to me to move this and other images from the Maryhill Museum of Art from Category:Cotroceni Palace to Category:Cotroceni Palace interior. The furniture, of course, would have been in the interior of Cotroceni Palace when it was there, but it is now on the opposite side of the world (and has been the better part of a century). Category:Cotroceni Palace interior would seem to me to suggest that the images are from Cotroceni, which of course they are not.

If you don't think it would be correct simply to revert, can we perhaps compromise with a separate Category:Furniture formerly in Cotroceni Palace or some such? - Jmabel ! talk 15:04, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No, there were about ten, about half of which I believe you moved. There are multiple rooms there dedicated to Queen Marie, including one that is mostly furniture from Cotroceni. It looks like everything currently in Category:Furniture in the Maryhill Museum of Art relates to Marie, but not all of it is from Cotroceni.
