Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Stowarzyszenie Wikimedia Polska zaprasza Cię na warsztaty fotograficzne, które odbędą się w Łodzi, 1-3 maja 2010. Twój wkład do Wikimedia Commons wskazuje, że możesz wiele skorzystać z udziału w warsztatach i podzielić się swoim doświadczeniem fotograficznym z innymi. Warsztaty są skierowane do:

  • osób już wgrywających mniejsze czy większe ilości zdjęć do Wikimedia

Commons - niezależnie od ich jakości

  • fototoamatorów - nie związanych dotąd z projektami Wikimedia
  • zawodowych fotografów - w charakterze doradców i wykładowców

Nie ma znaczenia jaki typ fotografii preferujesz - w Wikimedia Commons jest miejsce zarówno dla portrecistów, dokumentalistów, jak i fotografów pejzażu miejskiego i przyrody. Wikiwarsztaty będą miały charakter kameralny (max. 40-50 osób) i trwały przez weekend 1-3 maja 2010 <sobota-poniedziałek>, Zajęcia będą się odbywały w Łódzkim Domu Kultury oraz w plenerze. Organizatorzy zapewniają w ramach opłaty konferencyjnej (50 zł od osoby) - nocleg( PTSM na ul. Zamenhoffa), wyżywienie (obiady) i bezpłatny dostęp do Internetu w trakcie obrad.

Autorem oryginalnej fotografii jest Lech Polcyn. Plik ze zdjęciem wgrał (jak mniemam w oryginalnej wersji) na Commons użytkownik Sp5uhe. Później jednak użytkownik Michał Sobkowski uznał zapewne, że lepiej wygląda lustrzane odbicie i za pomocą (przypuszczam) jednego kliknięcia w programie do obróbki zdjęć taką edycję wykonał. Ja jedynie przywróciłem zdjęcie do oryginalnej formy, która teraz jest w użyciu. Francesco 13 (talk) 13:24, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

about Mare Nigrum[edit]

Hi I'm Sorin Ion. You are completely right to ask the deletion of Mare Nigrum picture. I am very close to this institute (GeoEcoMar) which owns this ship and, eager to better illustrate my article, I used one of their picture. Being a generic pic, I thought it is right to take a shortcut. In fact, it is not a big deal to take a shot of this ship (and more artistic), only the distance from Bucharest (where am I) to the sea is a problem but I agree that the picture should be erased when it comes to copyright. I have my own pictures of the research vessel and also have access to many pics of the researchers, I hope I'll use only those without copyright claims. Have a good day

Completude̠ logique premier ordre.png[edit]

Hi! I don't understand your renaming request at File:Completude̠ logique premier ordre.png. That file was uploaded by Fschwarzentruber in 2016. Yesterday, I saw that the paranthezation is (as I believe) flawed, and fixed it in a local png image on my computer. Since I couldn't override the commons image File:Completude̠ logique premier ordre.png with my new version, I uploaded it as File:Completude logique premier ordre.png (without the underlined "e"), and added "other versions" field to both versions. The different uploaders can be seen in the "File history" sections, so I don't understand your remark about original contributors. I could rename my new file to a more distinctive name, but it would be the best if Fschwarzentruber would recreate the image from the source code, and my new version would be deleted thereafter. - Jochen Burghardt (talk) 10:06, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Jochen Burghardt: You're right, I didn't look carefully enough and did not notice the improvement you made in parentheses.
