Peculiar image vandalism[edit]

If you're wondering, read recent traffic at Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard/Vandalism It was done through templates, not the images themselves. Andy Dingley (talk) 00:16, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Peacock spider[edit]

Just a heads-up: you submitted a request for an image of this animal to the Commons badly-needed image list about two or three years ago— last time I checked, there still weren't any images anywhere of this spider that were freely licensed, and none on Commons. I was in touch a few months ago with an Austrian living in Sydney who had taken hundreds of photos of them, but wasn't comfortable with releasing them freely to Commons. So two days ago I decided to just go ahead and draw one myself in Adobe Illustrator. It's coming along rather well, I think, and within the next few days, maybe a week, there will finally be an image available of a male peacock spider for use throughout the world! Which is all to say: your request has been heard, and the need for the image is well known, and I am about to fill it, and you are welcome (in advance)!
