Yahorlyk Kut Peninsula[edit]

According to the detailed map the whole peninsula is occupied. Also as of the time of writing in the latest file Transnistria's color is half of Moldova and the Luhansk region frontline looks really weird, should be smoothed out. - how do I sign?

Snihurivka[edit]

I have info that the town is occupied https://twitter.com/i/status/1501221061286940677 https://twitter.com/i/status/1501230862553460738 — Preceding unsigned comment added by CactusCartocratus (talk • contribs) 11:58, 18 March 2022 (UTC) - CactusCartocratus March 18 — Preceding unsigned comment added by CactusCartocratus (talk • contribs) 11:59, 18 March 2022 (UTC) It appears the town has been retaken: https://twitter.com/i/status/1504858280576917506 |11:58, 18 March 2022|CactusCartocratus — Preceding unsigned comment added by CactusCartocratus (talk • contribs) 12:53, 19 March 2022 (UTC) span class="signature-talk[reply]

Ukraine map[edit]

Look at bbc map they captured the north 2806:2F0:7060:25F6:DCD0:929B:4A14:FD39 18:50, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

They actually use the ISW map. There are no reliable sources claiming Shostka is captured as far as I've seen. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 18:54, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
https://www.understandingwar.org/backgrounder/russian-offensive-campaign-assessment-march-5 this source is reliable and can be used to determin that shostka has fallen. you can just revert it, thanks. Affiliating (talk) 01:24, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Like I said before the source doesn't say anywhere Shostka has fallen. And some line on a map isn't a confirmation of it falling. Please don't do this. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 03:35, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

the same source has been used on the wikipedia page for Shostka and is reliable as it comes form ISW, which is used for the map. The map doesnt need to include every single village and area that has fallen, but the city and the region are under russian control as ISW shows. Affiliating (talk) 04:14, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There are not many sources for smaller villages such as Shostka. Most maps created my new sources as well as the ISW after the past couple days show Shostka and the following areas to be under Russian control. So it is assumed that they aren't just randomly coloring in Shostka and the surrounding areas as Russian controlled for no real reason. Or was this not your point? 73.27.187.89 04:24, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Shostka is not a village. And we get reports even about village being captured. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 11:52, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Here's further proof from 3 days ago btw, even when ISW map showed the city behind Russian lines. Ukrainian military said the situation in Shostka was calm, that is a language they use when a place isn't occupied or under attack by Russians, and I haven't seen them lie about losing control even once. https://www.elnorte.ec/diego-un-ecuatoriano-atrapado-en-ucrania-por-la-guerra-y-las-estafas/ Shostka under Russian control according to this Ecuadorian news agency. 71.167.150.112 01:22, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't say that anywhere. The source you're citing is about a Ukrainian outside the country thinking it might be under Russian control. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 03:17, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
According to this interview with a person living in Shostka it is occupied: https://www.nu.nl/spanningen-oekraine/6189879/bericht-uit-een-bezet-shostka-angst-honger-en-verdriet.html Envesy (talk) 07:26, 18 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway I highly doubt they'll be trying to destroy multipile buildings in a place they occupied [2]. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 08:30, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Alright I will. But if I see a Ukrainian source saying it's not, I'll have to revert. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 10:36, 18 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Try seeing what the Shostka city council's website says. CactusCartocratus (talk) 12:56, 18 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can't find their website, just give me a link to what you want me to see. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 17:27, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Skadovsk[edit]

I see you changed Skadovsk from being occupied to stop being under Ukrainian control. Is this true? I thought it was taken a few hours ago? It seems very hard to get information on that peninsula around Skadovsk. Spaceman2288 (talk) 05:53, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't but basically Ukrainian army has left many towns unprotected. Russian forces just walked in and took control. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 05:55, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Volnovakha - Mariupol highway[edit]

Is this also under control by Russia? Spaceman2288 (talk) 05:58, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know. Sorry. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 06:04, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Beryslav Raion within Kherson Oblast captured?[edit]

Since you correctly pointed out that there have been reports about all of Kherson Oblast being captured, is it safe to assume that the Beryslav Raion (which is part of the oblast on the northeast of Kherson City) has been captured as well? Should it be added to the map? Cavewiki (talk) 12:55, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It is a Russian claim so treat it with caution. Beryslav city is already captured. I don't know about the raion. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 13:32, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Funny[edit]

"We shouldn"t rely on Russian claims" this is why your map is so outdated and far behind what is going on in reality. Kherson is fully under Russian control. 198.54.134.169 16:08, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

We don't rely on one-sided claims unless they're unfavorable to their side. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 16:11, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kherson Oblast[edit]

The entire Kherson Oblast is under Russian control now, go find it. 198.54.134.169 16:21, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Only Russia claimed it is. And please don't keep repeatedly posting messages about the same thing, it's not going to change anything. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 16:24, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Funny 2[edit]

Oh yes, it seems because users of Wikipedia are a more credible source than an official military with live updates from the ground on what is going on with a huge map that can be seen at all times with units updating where they are at. This is why Wikipedia is always begging for donations and barely surviving as a result each year, and is not a credible website for information for real education facilities like schools. 198.54.134.169 17:01, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I was talking about news journalists. Anymore insultive comments will be removed forthwith. Btw this website is entirely free and with no ads, so it doesn't have any source of income. Hence the donations are asked for. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 17:06, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Voznesensk attack repelled - no Russians in town as of 3/14[edit]

According to an on-the-ground report from France24, a reliable source, the Russian attack on Voznesensk has been repelled and the city has no Russian troops as of today (3/14). I would suggest that the "prong" from Kherson past Mykolaiv heading that way be shortened significantly to reflect this. Thanks you for keeping the map updated! Ganesha811 (talk) 00:45, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Made the necessary changes, thank you for informing. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 08:54, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I believe that not only is the town not contested, Russian troops have substantially retreated back down the road. A new, extremely detailed WSJ article from today states that "Russian forces retreated more than 40 miles to the southeast, where other Ukrainian units have continued pounding them." That would put them south of Nova Odesa. I think the "prong" should be shortened to that point. Ganesha811 (talk) 16:14, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Russian troops attacked again on 9 March but were driven back [3] [4]. But yes WSJ does say they've drawn back 40 miles. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 16:56, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've positioned them back beyond Nova Odesa, halfway between Nova Odesa and Mykolaiv. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 17:23, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ukrainian counteroffensive on Mykolaiv front continues - Russians pushed back[edit]

Hi again! According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, Russian forces have been pushed out of and away from Mykolaiv. The article states: "In recent days, Ukrainian officials regained access to previously Russian-controlled villages such as Luch, Shevchenkove and Ukrainka southeast of Mykolaiv" and "Then, in the past several days, Ukrainian forces launched a counteroffensive toward Kherson, breaking through Russian lines and going past the boundary between the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions." Looks like Russian forces are definitely pushed back as of a couple of days ago. They may be refocusing on Kyrvyi Rih, but not enough good sourcing there yet. Thank you for keeping the map updated! Ganesha811 (talk) 12:46, 18 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Add Mariupol Airport on the map as under Russian Control[edit]

For several days now the Mariupol airport has been shown as under Russian control on various maps including maps on Wikipedia could the 2022 russian invasion of ukraine map be updated to reflect that? 185.235.51.6 18:49, 18 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Provide reliable source. AbsolutelyFiring (talk) 19:39, 18 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
