Cropping[edit]

Hello from the other site , noticed you're cropping a few images, such as File:Central Pier, Blackpool (Unsplash) (cropped).jpg, you may benefit from installing Commons:CropTool under your preferences-gadgets as it greatly speeds up the process (unless the tool doesn't work on an image every now and then) copying all relevant licensing, it also adds {{Extracted from}} and {{Extracted image}} to help attribution. You could also add {{Retouched picture}} to images you edit as a separate version showing what exactly was changed, although not sure if the template only applies to heavily edited images tbh. Or at least mention what you edited in the edit summary or image description, it is not obvious what just "edited" in the title means compared to the original. Thanks for transferring freely licensed images from Flickr etc though.

Oh hello! Thanks for the heads up on the CropTool, that will save a lot of time. Commons is a different kettle of fish to Wikipedia and I'm sure it's very obvious that I'm still trying to get my head around organising and attributing everything properly (both of which are very important, of course). I'm not doing any heavy editing, mostly just trying to make slightly dull images a bit more vibrant, but there's no harm in using the template to help make it easier to see what I've done. Cheers for taking the time to lend a hand, always appreciated! A.D.Hope (talk) 16:37, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
