Hello Joku Janne, I do not mind that You did not respond to [1], but I am not happy that You did not check the change You did again to Template:Dont recreate/en - the change did not work, which You could just have found out after Your change by testing it. Therefore I again ask You kindly to check changes to templates which are widely used (also templates which don't have such a broad use should be checked to make sure they are useful). Thanks for Your understanding, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 00:20, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Á, congratulations! You now have administrator rights on Commons. Please take a moment to read the Commons:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Commons:Administrators' noticeboard and its subpages), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care. Have a look at the list of Gadgets (on the bottom there are the ones specifically for admins – however, for example the UserMessages are very helpful too).
Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-commons webchat on irc.libera.chat. There is also a channel for Commons admins, which may be useful for more sensitive topics, or coordination among administrators: #wikimedia-commons-admin webchat.
You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading. You can find the admin backlog overview at COM:AB.
Please also check or add your entry to the List of administrators and the related lists by language and date it references.

Hello,
I changed the notice and author and source info on this image. When you use 2 images you have to attribute the original authors or else it becomes a copyvio.
Cheers, Abigor talk 03:13, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hello,
I reverted your actions on this images. I see no proof that the author of this images is dead for + 70 years. The lady on the image died in 1939 source and she doesn't look so young on this image. If the image is taken in 1930 for example is possible that the author still lives. It's only 78 years ago.
So please do you have any proof the image is pd-old? Or otherwise please don't changed the license. It can cause serius problems for the Wikimedia foundation.
Cheers, Abigor talk 03:21, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I agree mostly to what Abigor said. PD-old can only be claimed if we know the author and his date of death. Please reminder this before doing such actions in feauture, please. abf «Cabale?! Quelle Caballe?» 13:58, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- The web page should give permission to use the logo under a free license. I don't speak Spanish, but I believe that the logo is not freely licensed. Could you translate the permission text to English or give it to someone who is admin and can speak Spanish? --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 13:29, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Undone removals of copyvio template[edit]
Hi, Joku Janne, I have undone your removal of the speedy deletion of File:Wall of a Taoist temple.PNG, File:Taoist temple in Qingdao 2.PNG, and File:Taoist temple in Kaifeng.PNG. The OTRS ticket is invalid. Lavelk does not have copyright over the image and as such, he cannot release the picture into the public domain or under the CC license for Commons. The Flickr images have existed before the uploads here, whereas the images uploaded here from the photobucket account are uploaded later, suspiciously in the PNG format, and lacking in the EXIF data that digital photos have. Please refer to the discussions at hand (ref: Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems#User:Nyo: copyright violations, Commons:Administrators' noticeboard#Possible to revoke OTRS?, the various threads within the previous two discussions, and User talk:Nyo). Jappalang (talk) 10:10, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to request the undeletion of file Loari1.jpg deleted yesterday[edit]
Hello,
The file deleted is indeed used for the cover of the album Luar e cafe. I am the photographer of the picture and my wife Elisete is the singer/songwriter that released the album. We own all the rights to the photo, album and all that goes with it so I assume it is OK for me to upload a picture I took and also used for my wife's album.
I would appreciate if you would undelete the picture or instruct me how to do it and/or change details in the picture page to make it clear it is under the correct license.
Thanks
Miki retter Mikiretter (talk) 20:56, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Undeleted. Usually we have to delete all album covers uploaded here, because people upload album covers here and claim that they have done them, but they have not. Usually it is good to explain something more, like you did here, so that we know, that the uploader is really the copyright owner. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 21:07, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't understand your decision. See Commons:Flickr images and Commons:Deletion requests/All uploads made by User:Cosmo V. Cosmo V is probably a fake reviewer since all images are uploaded by him and it is said on the license that he's a "Commons administrator or trusted user" which is not true. I believe that the images should be deleted since all license information is fake. Descíclope (talk) 22:04, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I did not know that Cosmo V is not a trusted user. So I taught that the license had been changed after the upload to Commons. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 22:14, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
File:SidneyLumet07TIFF.jpg[edit]
Hi, I was wondering if you could undelete File:SidneyLumet07TIFF.jpg. I forwarded a whole bunch of e-mails a while back and I guess they were lost somehow. I requested that an administator take a look at my requests a few months back, and he acknowledged that they were there but said OTRS had been backlogged at the time. If you check my contributions, you can see that I have uploaded numerous images which have been sent for approval to OTRS and have had no problems. I'll go through the list of ones that were still waiting for OTRS to take a look at them and re-forward the e-mails again. If you have any questions let me know on my talk page. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 03:34, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Not done. I think we should have the e-mail before undeleting it. When the e-mail is at OTRS and verified, I can undelete it. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 10:13, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- The OTRS-people will undelete it themselves as soon as they have all information, and then also add the ticket-number. -- Cecil (talk) 10:43, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of [edit]
Hi Joku Janne,
i saw you deleted the file above. You are right, there is not much content on these pages, but i'm on setting up a lesson about Scribus at the german Wikiversity, where a flyer for WV will emerge (the lessons). The PDF you deleted was a first stage of this flyer, snapshots of further progress are intended to follow. So, the file has some sense, also it is possibly not of popular interest. I can alternatively upload the files on Wikiversity, but suggest, anyone would like to link some advanced stage of the flyer anywhere as "created with scribus" e.g. Imo, this justifies upload on Commons.
Sorry, but maybe you could request for deletion and wait a bit for explanation next time?
Thanks for reply, kind regards, Turnvater Jahn (talk) 13:35, 5 January 2009 (UTC).[reply]
- The file did not work. There came only a few blue lines, when I tried to open it. Check what is wrong with the file itself. So the content was not a reason, I could not see it, because the file was broken. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 16:45, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- The blue lines are the content of the file. As i said, it was an interim state of the Wikiversity flyer to be created on v:de:Kurs:Scribus. So, the file is not broken but what you saw was its content. Turnvater Jahn (talk) 15:29, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Macchi_Mc.202.JPEG[edit]
Hi Joku Janne.
I saw that you have deleted this aircraft image without any discussion. The reason given was "PD-Italy". I don't understand what that means. My understanding was that copyright of wartime Italian government photos had lapsed after WWII.
The Wikipedia article Air Force of the Independent State of Croatia has been diminished by the deletion as this image (and its associated caption and text) served to illustrate an important fighter aircraft whose Croatian operational record in WW II was relatively unknown.
Does your deletion of this image also mean that other images, as shown on the Wikipedia Macchi C.202 article, will also be deleted?
I respectfully request that that the image be un-deleted/re-instated please.
Thanks.

undeletion of file Jimdo Logo.gif ?[edit]
Hola Joku Janne! Could you please help me? You deleted this picture "File:Jimdo Logo.gif" due to "no fair use at Commons: Copyrighted non-free Jimdo GmbH logo". The problem is, I couldn't find the right license for this logo, which one would you recommend me? It's a company's logo which is copy right protected but the company does agree that we use it in wikipedia. Gracias and I hope you can help me! 3ilaliff (talk) 11:13, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Both on Commons and Wikipedia it is not acceptable to constrict the use to just Wikipedia. So either the company accepts that everybody worldwide can use it, both non-commercially and commercially, or it is not possible to upload it here. If the company accepts the rules of Commons than they should forward a permission to the COM:OTRS-team. You can find permission-templates there at the page. -- Cecil (talk) 18:20, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
I just noticed that you closed a deletion request you opened yourself, I think its better to not nominate and delete yourself. People can say there could be a conflict of interest :(
And I noticed a few times that you close deletion request very fast. I believe a deletion request have to stay open for 7 days so the community can give there imput. (Doesn't count for copyvios off course )
Best regards, Abigor talk 17:16, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- 1: I did get the information I wanted about the image. 2: Usually the deletion requests I close very fast are obvious cases (copyright violations and personal photos). --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 17:26, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My deletion request for wrong permission[edit]
Thanks for reminding me of this issue on the Wikimedia Commons Project Scope page. I read this ages ago, and have been to sleep since then and forgotten the details.
I will work through my uploads and change the necessary wording. I would be grateful for a week or so to check all my uploads, though it will probably be done by the weekend. I will start later tonight when I get home.
- Is there a "standard" form of words, please, covering requests for permission and possible payment for commercial use? (Noting that such is request only and not something photographers can require.) My main concern is that any commercial users are not exploiting us. I do not object to commercial use in itself.
- Which is the best "with attribution" license? I went for the most obvious in terms of what its title says. Perhaps I need something different.
One other point, which you may be able to help with on an Administrator basis. Project Scope reminds me that I ought to get "identifiable person" permission for 3 items. [2] [3] [4] I did look up the Black Country Living Museum web site for contact details wanting to e-mail them before uploading. They do not seem to have any e-mail or web page contact, and I would not phone them from work. When I am at home is outside their opening hours. Is there a procedure for a temporary withdrawal pending "identifiable person permission"? Or is it enough for me to add a "permission pending" notice at this stage?
Thanks again for your response. -- Robert of Ramsor (talk) 18:52, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Further to "Identifiable Person" note[edit]
In the guidelines given in Wikimedia, photos of people, normally OK, the general categories given in these examples appear to cover quite adequately my note about my pictures of the Glass Engraver giving demonstrations at the Black Country Living Museum.
I intend contacting the Museum about my pictures, and will do so as soon as I can. But my interpretation of the official Wikimedia guidleines is that there is no cause on this basis for removal of these images.
I am working on a form of words to meet the Removal Notice for my "non-commercial" permission. Something like - "Permission. As Wikimedia Commons Scope allowing all use. Should anyone do me the honour of considering this image suitable for mass copying or for sale, I request the courtesy of advance notice through my Wikimedia Talk page. Thank you." -- Robert of Ramsor (talk) 23:05, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! There seems to be a problem with your edit of this template. More precisely, arguments don't seem to work any more. Can you please check the syntax you used? It's much too complicated for me. Jastrow (Λέγετε) 17:26, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Done, thank you for your notice. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 17:40, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Not really, your "fix" actually did nothing at all. The basic problem was that you used the autotranslate template, but gave it parameters other than 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. Those are discarded when the localized template is included, so all the information was lost. I fixed this problem by copying the code from the autotranslate template and modifying it according to the needs of the Delete template. Regards, -- ChrisiPK (Talk|Contribs) 18:43, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- OK, I did not know that. Maybe in the future I will autotranslate just simple templates. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 18:48, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- It would probably be best if you did a test run in your user namespace. I do it whenever I am preparing a change in a major template (see e.g. deleted versions of User:ChrisiPK/flickr or User:ChrisiPK/description) and then use it on the sandbox. Also, please make sure you test several language versions after autotranslating a template. This can be easily done by appending ?uselang=en (or any other language code) to the URL. You should at least check the major languages (most importantly en, then de, fr and any others you think are important) to make sure that most users are still able to use the template after your changes. Also you might consider standardizing localized templates before autotranslating the actual template. This can by done by creating a /layout template. For examples how this is done, see Commons:Template i18n. Regards, -- ChrisiPK (Talk|Contribs) 19:49, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- FYI: I went through a number of fixes with that template and it's still not working flawlessly. I have reverted the autotranslation of this template for now and will do some testing on another page so I don't fill up the job queue by editing a heavily used template. Regards, -- ChrisiPK (Talk|Contribs) 23:29, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed that you have recently deleted the photo I uploaded, I am fairly new to Wikimedia Commons, and I would just like to know why. - A Wikipedia-only permission is not enough. The original copyright holder must also allow reuse, distribution, commercial use and derivative works. See COM:L for the Wikimedia Commons' copyright policy. The simpliest way is to ask the copyright holder to license the photograph with CC-BY or CC-BY-SA. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 22:38, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- Please note that even if the website is yours, the copyrights of the photographs are probably not. The copyright holder is by default the person who took the photographs. The copyrights of the images are yours only, if the copyright holder has especially transferred them to you. Unless the ”Images are free to use.” includes also reuse, distribution, commercial use and derivative works, you should ask the copyright holder to allow reuse, distribution, commercial use and derivative works. See COM:L for the Wikimedia Commons' copyright policy. The simpliest way is to ask the copyright holder with this email template to license the photographs with CC-BY or CC-BY-SA. I don't know why Wiki complicates things like these. I don't have enought time to learn about all your policy. I got their permission to post them in Wiki, if this is not enought... well, i will not post them. See ya.
- It is so complicated because Wikipedia is a freely licensed project. Anyone can reuse and distribute the text in Wikipedia, even commercially. OldShipInterior.jpg[edit]
Hello, I notice you deleted this image. I have been in extensive email contact with the creator, and told him to license it (as I tell everyone i work with on Flickr) as 2.0ShareAlike. The way I read it is that he has licensed it correctly. Can you tell me where the problem is? If he has put the wrong license on it, I will let him know so he can correct the license and we can repost. Thanks! MarmadukePercy (talk) 14:06, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- The license at Flickr is CC-BY-NC-SA. The license forbids commercial use. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 14:10, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- What license, then, do I need to tell him to put on it? 2.0CommercialShareAlikeAttribution? Thanks. MarmadukePercy (talk) 14:21, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- For example Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 (CC-BY-SA). --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 17:51, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Many thanks for letting me know! MarmadukePercy (talk) 13:36, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Palva.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Palva.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
Template talk:Translation table[edit]
Hello, there are two requests on Template talk:Translation table, may you process them? Thanks!--ItsMine (talk) 15:00, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Finnish-speaker needed[edit]
Hi Joku Janne, I'm contacting you as one of the few Finnish-speaking admins. This portrait File:00000kwp.jpg of a bishop from Finland, uploaded half a year ago, was recently found without clear permission and tagged for deletion. As the image is heavily used on :cs, I didn't want to simply delete it. But the uploader is no longer active here and on :fi, so there is nothing to expect from him/her. Though I don't understand a word in Finnish, I found the probable source website ([5]). Could you kindly take the pain to contact them (kuva@kotimaa.fi) and ask whether the image is sstill copyrighted and, if they are the copyright holder, they would be willing to grant us a license? Thanks.--Túrelio (talk) 07:45, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Per the publishing terms and conditions you must buy a publishing right for each publication. KuvaKotimaa seems to be a profit image archive, so I would say that the request about a free license would be unsucessful. The photographer has died after 1938, so the photograph is still copyrighted. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 21:52, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks.--Túrelio (talk) 05:44, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
„Template:Translation table“[edit]
Hello Joku Janne, after your changing the Template:Translation table the function is not more correct. Greetings. Orchi (talk) 21:48, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't know, what's wrong. I revert the change and let someone who knows more about the template look at it. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 21:52, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Joku Janne,
you have deleted an image of one of my articles after a deletion request by Kam Solusar: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Tempo2.png
I would like to re-insert this file. It is a scan of a 1933 newspaper frontpage. The articles on this frontpage are all unsigned and therefore do not fall under copyright anymore: "For an unsigned or anonymous article: copyright expires 70 years from the end of the calendar year in which the work was made, or made available to the public. For example, a newspaper published in 1930 is out of copyright in 2001. ... When an article is prepared as part of a journalist's permanent employment, the copyright belongs to the publisher ..." Source: http://www.bl.uk/reshelp/findhelprestype/news/copynews/index.html
The newspaper does not have an impressum.
Kind regards,
Johu

Midvinterblot[edit]
With regard to you closing rationale of Commons:Deletion requests/File:Midvinterblot.jpg - this is not about neigbouring rights, as I understand it. You seem to suggest that the museum claims rights based on ownership of the painting? But this photo was most likely made by a museum employee, and the museum has copyright on the photo according to Swedish law. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 20:39, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Actually the museum does not have copyright on the photo, it has a special neighbouring right on the photo. All photos which do not pass the threshold of originality, like this one, do get a neighbouring right protection. They do get copyright protection if they are considered works of art. I didn't mean that the museum would claim ownership to the photograph by owning the painting. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 20:45, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Ok, but this neigbouring right protection is the same mechanism with which almost all photography in Sweden is protected, and it is definitely not correct to say: "Commons' policy does not care about the neighbouring right status in Sweden." /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 07:41, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- FWIW, I'll have to agree with Pieter here: you closure was right, but the rationale wrong. After all, if we didn't care about these types of neighboring rights, we wouldn't need e.g. {{PD-Finland50}}. (Also, what I really came here to note is that the issue was brought up at Commons:Undeletion requests/Current requests#Original contents of Category:One Hundred Famous Views of Edo.) —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 14:59, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
FYI: I have now undeleted the older revisions of this image. Just wanted to let you know, as you didn't decide to do so even though I suggested it. If there was a reason for this, feel free to delete agein. Regards, -- ChrisiPK (Talk|Contribs) 01:15, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Erroneous deletion of file, even though duly written and signed permission for use was emailed to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org[edit]

Why did you delete the file, even though duly written & signed permissions were emailed to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shweta1977 (talk • contribs)
- A permission to use the images on Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons is not enough. See COM:L for our copyright policy. The paintings should be licensed with a license that allows anyone to reuse, distribute, use commercially, make and publish derivative works etc. You should ask the painter to release the painting with a free license that allows these things. A list of free licenses is at COM:L#Acceptable licenses. One example of free licenses is Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0. So ask the author ro license to license the painting with Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 or some other free license. Use this e-mail template to make the request. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 16:03, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have changed the English text of this template. Would you mind having another look at the Finnish translation? --MichaelMaggs (talk) 10:42, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hei! Merkitsin kuvan Kaj Franck Hors d'Oeuvre dish.jpg {{Speedydelete}}-mallineella fiwikin keskustelusivulleni tulleen kommentin jälkeen (syy merkinnälle: ”Designer Kaj Franck died in 1989; this work of art is not in Public Domain yet.
