Oklahoma[edit]

Picture Location Remark
McLoud, OK ODOT doesn't really seem to know how it wants to format words starting with "Mc". You can find instances of McLoud and McLoud. Here, they decided to just totally ignore it.
Henryetta, OK These signs are getting pretty ratty.
Regardless of what the sign says, Oklahoma really doesn't have mountains. At least, not mountains like those we'll see tomorrow.
Decided to get off the freeway for gas.
This is the first southbound shield on OK-150.
Looking the other way at the northern terminus of OK-150, and I-40 in the distance.
I wonder if this is really an Indian word or just someone trying to be cute with the name. Regardless, it could apply to the whole state, which was suffering from heavy rain and flooding at the time.
Webbers Falls, OK See, here we have McClellan.
Webbers Falls, OK I-40 bridge over the Arkansas River near Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. This was the bridge that was struck by a barge and collapsed into the river, causing the I-40 bridge disaster.

Arkansas[edit]

Van Buren, AR Welcome to Arkansas.
Van Buren, AR Arkansas I-40 shield in the Arkansas Welcome Center. This looks like it's based on an older version of the MUTCD.
Van Buren, AR Eisenhower Interstate System signage heading back out on the freeway.
Van Buren, AR Hope you like button copy. There's plenty in Arkansas.
Van Buren, AR Here's Interstate 540 or possibly I-49 depending when you check back.
Alma, AR And there it goes. After it splits off from the duplex with I-40, I-540 sails over its parent on this flyover.
Alma, AR Signage for the US 71 junction in Alma. Check out the cantilever!
East of Alma Pretty view.
A friend of mine loves these crazy loop ramp arrows, which aren't found in Oklahoma. This one's for her.
Conway, AR Excuse me?! (Aah, it's Clearview!)
Conway, AR More Clearview.
East of Conway, AR Arkansas seems to be Clearview versus the button copy.
Little Rock, AR It's a lie! I-430 doesn't really go to Texarkana! (of course, I-30 does, but...)
Little Rock, AR I didn't notice this was Clearview until I looked at the picture three months later.
Little Rock, AR Next in our Arkansas Flyovers series...
Little Rock, AR Clearview on the collector road even!
Little Rock There was a bunch of construction going on in Little Rock.
Little Rock Empty gantry.
Little Rock Approaching the I-30 junction the signs have been torn down and put on the shoulder like this.
Little Rock Guess they were once overheads.
Little Rock Anyone want to go to L.R.A.F.B.?
Little Rock Arkansas uses the double slanting arrows, yet another useful feature Oklahoma lacks. (L.R.A.F.B. is Little Rock Air Force Base. And it's actually in Jacksonville...)
Little Rock Another one of the overbuilt Arkansas gantries.
Eastern Little Rock This picture can give you a headache. Is the camera titled, or the sign? Are the numbers crooked?
Eastern Little Rock Well, I doubt they'd put up a sign if this WASN'T a junction, so the "Jct" is a bit useless...
Eastern Little Rock In case you're jonesin' to go to Jacksonville or Texarkana and missed the first turnoff, you're in luck!
Eastern Little Rock Once you get to the collector road you get more destination options.
Palestine, AR Interesting name.
Forrest City, AR Hey, combining two exits on one sign is cheating!
Forrest City, AR This sign baffles me a bit. Most blue service signs are for things like gas, food, and hotels. Would people really be searching for the state police headquarters? I guess if you were being followed or something...
Forrest City, AR Anybody have an extra arrow hanging around?
Forrest City, AR Here's more of the goofy arrows.
Widener, AR Must be a McDonald's in town! *zing*
??? GNDN exit (goes nowhere, does nothing)
West Memphis, AR AHTD is posting the I-40/55 duplex before we've even junctioned with it yet. (Also, notice there's five 7s in this picture!)
West Memphis, AR Here's the actual exit.
West Memphis, AR #3 in the Arkansas flyovers series.

West Memphis, AR Diagrammatic announcing the upcoming split.
