Hi, I'm a philosopher and historian of science at Columbia University. One of my research interests is the role of material objects in scientific practice and the use of scientific collections as sources in the history of science. Small university collections do not have the financial means to build complex websites/databases and countless important scientific objects remain locked away in storage rooms without any documentation whatsoever. Wikimedia Commons could serve as a great and efficient platform to make scientific objects accessible not only to historians but also to the broader public.
