Many actions on Wikimedia Commons have rate limits, which limit how quickly a user can perform them. These limits are different for different actions and for different groups of users.

The limits[edit]

The more significant limits are shown in the table below. They are defined by a number of actions and a time in seconds over which those actions must take place. For ease of comparison, equivalents in terms of actions per second or per minute are also provided.

Rate limits are set by wgRateLimits in InitialiseSettings.php. The groups that have the noratelimit right can be found in Special:UserGroupRights.
