Need a width option[edit]

{{editprotected}} See: Category:Economics

The sister links box takes up almost the full width of the screen on my monitor set to 1152x864.

Something like this is needed:

{{Sisterheader|width=50%}}
{{Sisterheader|width=40%}}
{{Sisterheader|width=60%}}

People have different size screens and some of these sister link boxes can take up the full width of the screen. This messes up the formatting of other stuff such "see also" category links, etc..

Sometimes the full width is needed, and so I don't want a fixed width setting. See: Category:CommonsRoot --Timeshifter (talk) 22:56, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Setting a width can also be problematic especially when there is a range of devices to which we need to cater. Something like that would probably needed to be tested in a sandbox under a range of conditions, rather than just implemented.  — billinghurst sDrewth 10:40, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ID[edit]

Please give this template an ID ({| id="sisterwikis" border="1" […]) to allow user customisation via CSS. Thanks in advance,    FDMS  4    09:30, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please add optional parameter to allow wrapping. Currently it floats right, but does not wrap[edit]

{{Editrequest}} See this diff for this category:

Why isn't this wrapping? It floats right by default. But it does not wrap.

Maybe add a wrapping parameter. I don't know what part of the template it would be added to since it is part of several templates that create the box at that category:

{{Sisterheader}}
{{Sisterwikipedia|
 |en:| |Category:Poverty rates|}}
{{Sisterend}}

I am assuming it is the first template that would need the optional parameter for the box to wrap. --Timeshifter (talk) 16:51, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Timeshifter, there is a clear element in Template:Sisterend. Have you any suggestion for the parameter name, simply "wrap"? -- User: Perhelion 00:18, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe make it the default setting to wrap. I don't see why it shouldn't wrap in most cases. In a very few cases there might be a need for a parameter for "nowrap"? But I can't think of any.
Template:Sisterend is transcluded in around 2000 pages:
https://tools.wmflabs.org/templatecount/?lang=commons&name=Sisterend&namespace=10#bottom
From Template talk:Sisterend:
"Category pages are often messed up because templates will overwrite the category listings."
I don't think that is true any longer. Look at Category:United Kingdom. Note that the infobox goes deep into the categories and even into the images. Everything wraps around it. It does not cover anything.
See this version of that category:

I think Template:Sisterend there needs styling="float:right; clear:right;" instead of style="clear:both"
Template:Sisterheader has "style="float: right;"

 Half done It should wrap now. If you still want the optional choice, please be specific. 1989 (talk) 21:16, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deprecate in favor of Wikidata Infobox links?[edit]

Is this template necessary any more? It can be deprecated in favor of using {{Wikidata Infobox}}, which contains interwiki links maintained on Wikidata. Are there links covered by {{Sisterheader}} that are not included with {{Wikidata Infobox}}? If so, any reason we cannot have them included in the later?
