Note on the template page[edit]

There is a note on the template page:

Note: You currently need to install special functions at your monobook.css and monobook.js to make this work. See mine for example. pfctdayelise (translate?) 09:31, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I did not have to do anything special (at least with Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers) for the show/hide function to work in the example on this talk page. Have things changed? Am I missing something? If not, can we remove the note?

I am only seeing arrowheads though. Is there some text like "show/hide" that I am missing?

On wikipedia I can see the show/hide text. See w:Template:Hidden and w:Template:Navbox. --Timeshifter (talk) 06:40, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hidden categories[edit]

I think this edit causes each image that transcludes {{Hidden}} to be placed in Category:Hidden categories. Is this what is wanted? Shouldn't it be inside <noinclude></noinclude> tags instead? -84user (talk) 01:05, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted it.--Patrick (talk) 05:58, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Broken template[edit]

{{Editprotected}}

Latest edits broke the template. It does not hide anymore (at least on monobook). Please restore a sane version. Regards, --Eusebius (talk) 11:07, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Something on Commons is causing collissions with the new makeCollapsible-script in Internet Explorer, untill we find out what the cause is the script has been disabled. Just revert to the previous version which doesn't use this script. –Krinkletalk 11:10, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really understand what you say. What should we revert? If you're talking about this template, it's protected. --Eusebius (talk) 11:24, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If anything could be done to make this template work again, could someone please do it? Thanks in advance... --Eusebius (talk) 14:58, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have tested both the 2010 October and 2011 March versions on Firefox (logged out with Vector skin and logged in with Monobook) and Opera (Monobook skin). See User:84user/Sandbox/doc (permanent link). The 2010 October version appears to work correctly. If Internet Explorer users also find the October version works for them, then we should revert to this revision. The {{Editprotected}} is there to attract the attention of an administrator that can do this reversion. -84user (talk) 21:59, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

text-align[edit]

{{Editprotected}}

Please change text-align:{{{ta2|left}}}; to text-align:{{{ta2|start}}};. It will be so better for RTL language that are not Left to Right. This an example page. start is the same as left if direction is left-to-right and right if direction is right-to-left. −ebraminiotalk 23:54, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Use mw-collapsible[edit]

{{Editprotected}}

Please copy the sandbox (diff). It switches from MediaWiki:Gadget-CollapsibleTemplates.js to MediaWiki’s built-in collapsibility. The main gain from this is that it works reliably on file pages appearing on other wikis (at least across Wikimedia and fairly recent third-party wikis; making it work on third-party wikis not updated for ten years can’t be a goal); MediaWiki:Gadget-CollapsibleTemplates.js works only if, and in the way, the same functionality is implemented in an independent default gadget or site script on the client wiki. It also reduces the technical debt, meaning that we may eventually be able to get rid of the gadget and thus the maintenance burden/breakage potential. As a regression test, I compared the documentation subpage as displayed on the main template and in the sandbox (I’ve updated the documentation subpage to transclude the sandbox version when used in the sandbox). —Tacsipacsi (talk) 22:45, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mdaniels5757: Thanks, but please protect Template:Hidden/styles.css, since it’s now used by this protected template. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 18:12, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
