Template talk:Haifayear

This template makes it look like, say "Haifa, Israel" in 1928, 1929 etc.

This is wrong. It was not "Haifa, Israel" before 1948. Either this is changed, or I will ask for the whole category to be deleted, Huldra (talk) 22:58, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Huldra: If you read the wikitext, there are already references to dates before 1917, in 1917, 1917-1948, in 1948, and after 1948, with appropriate categories. For 1928, a page would be in [[Category:1928 in the British Mandate of Palestine|-Haifa]] and [[Category:Haifa during the British Mandate of Palestine| 1928]].   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 22:11, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jeff G.: ah, the text of that template absolutely terrifies me; asking me to edit it is like setting me in the captains seat on an jumbojet and asking me to fly it. (And no, I have no flying license). So you could say I am looking for someone with a flying license? Huldra (talk) 22:21, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Huldra: Ok, here is a more verbose translation, please check. In or before 1917, a page would be "in Ottoman Palestine" and "during Ottoman period" (though I prefer an added "the" to form "during the Ottoman period"). Between 1917 and 1948, a page would be "in the British Mandate of Palestine" and "during the British Mandate of Palestine". In or after 1948, a page would be "in Israel".   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 22:46, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jeff G.: ok, could you please check if I have completely messed up on Template:Haifayear or on Template:British Mandate of Palestineyear? Huldra (talk) 22:59, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
