Ich denke, GRENZE legende is for international boundary, and exGRENZE legende is for other boundaries such as regional (kantons, provinces, prefectures...) or operator administration (JR East and JR Central, SNCF and RATP...) No? In Japan no international boundary exists, thus I put separate explanation in the list in JA. Icon is known to few Japanese, or standing for international boundary (often with checkpost). Addition of pictograms

Churning out icons

Thanks for doing this. Some of the offset icons are useful for taking that extra column off RDT's so they are no wider than they need to be. I could ask that you create some icons I have a use for, though. One is a triangle of track two icons to a side, which would make, for example, triangular stations easier to see than the single icon triangle but without the huge three icon spreads that are more useful at truly large triangle like the one north of Portsmouth in the UK. I could also use an icon to depict a station sited on one side of such a large triangle (eg Farlington on the Portsmouth triangle). I would think the you could do this either by allowing the station icon to be offset in both axes (both forward and to the left of the central position) or make a station up from four quarters the way some linking "wedges" between curves are done currently. Here's an illustration of what I mean: if each UWc icon was a quarter of a station icon you would be able to overlay and position stations on curves.

That's great, thanks. If you look at en:West Coastway Line you will see that I have used one of the icons for Farlington, which now looks like a station on the railway rather than an eccentrically placed blob. Pale ACC icons

London Underground Icons Step Free Access from Trains

Have noticed over the past few weeks new route maps on the Northern Line trains. They are no differentiating between step free access from platform to street and train to street. The latter has swapped colours - i.e. white background with blue wheelchair symbol and blue border. At interchange stations there can be a multitude of symbols for no step free access / platform step free access / train step free access (Kings Cross is an example of this). It may be worth considering icons for this differentiation. --Stewart ^{(talk | edits)} 11:10, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure that a white-on-blue version would be distinguishable at a small size from the existing ACCessible INTerchange: compare  (utACC) vs  (utINTACC). Useddenim (talk) 13:58, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

A couple more thoughts, on further reflection:
1.  (utINTACC) with a blue border (File:BSicon uDST legende.svg) would indicate an accessible depôt; I can't think of any beyond Acton and a few other museums converted from former shops.
2. That level of information more properly belongs in a station's article, as anyone needing that information should already have a Step-free Tube Guide, rather than relying on Wikipedia. Useddenim (talk) 14:21, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Useddenim for your response. I was surprised to see the maps on the Northern line trains change, have not noticed them on other lines (yet!). I agree with you respect to needing that info. I have been surprised of late how many people turn to Wikipedia for information rather than the source data and this information should be correct in the station article. The Step-free Tube Guide can also be misleading. Take London Bridge Northern Line as an example. The platforms have Harrington humps, but nowhere have I seen any information about where they are located along the length of a train - and northbound, it coincides with the point were everyone enters the platform and stands. The point is that line templates are a simplified schematic, not a comprehensive map or guide. For what you seem to want to do, you want something like the Japanese use of the icons to represent individual station layouts. Circeus (talk) 14:43, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Umm… a good place to start would be with keeping the e and x prefixes the right way 'round… (Compare your original upload with  (evÜWBl)).
Also, as a design note, it's not necessary to add an ultra-wide line (which should be colour  #f9f9f9 , not  white ) behind the upper route; I just use a closed path behind the second and third points of the two bridge sides. Useddenim (talk) 14:11, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

Vertical half icons?

Hello, I have uploaded a couple of icons,   (DSTa) and   (BRÜCKEa+DSTe). The purpose of the icons are that the non-stop station is between a normal track and a elevated one. I think the name for the first is ok, but I'm not sure about the other, too complex. Maybe hDSTe could be another option for the name.

I have the rest of the icons ready to upload, but I'd like to see if there's something to correct.

I think  (DST) and  (BRÜCKE) like I have now is more correct to a certain point :p. Actually it's worse than expected. Have to agree to BjørnN, the main task of the row-by-row BS-templates is to have a designated place for text comments of each facility shown in the route diagramm. Up/down half of BST are needed in diagrams with quite a big number of non-passenger stops, for example like in Moscow Railway. Example of templates are Link1 Link2 Link3 Link4 . In Link1 in Бекасово (bekasovo) huge station there are many stops (but it seems I managed in Bekasovo there to use only BSTl/BSTr); but in other places in schemes BSTf/BSTg is used (make search in these links). Separate cell (simple KBST/BST) would make the whole diagram wider/longer just because of one such stop (which is inappropriate) while diagram is long/wide by itself already. Having thought of introducing such thing about 2 months, I did not know a better solution. Of course, in some places in my links you can point out, that I can change to simple BST w/o making longer/wider, it will just look a bit uglier (wrong place connecting to neigborhood), but in some places it is not possible. In future schemes (that are in progress) such thing will also be needed.

Sometimes there are so many such 'stops', that it is not necessary to have a text name for them all (to the comment, that you cannot have a text for splitted BST):

• It is physically impossible to have text for all, where there are many of them (see my example). So, it is not needed (just passenger and main/big non-passenger stations are named)
• Name of stop is not known (or known, but w/o authorized source like WP requires).
• HotLink on cell sometimes is enough w/o text. (or on both cells if splitted).
• Text is possible with POINTER mark, that will be in concrete row. There are many POINTERs to point to correct side.

With this, having a definition of 'correctness' that names BSTf/BSTg (BSTf_legende/BSTg_legende) incorrect is just useless (does not mean anything), because BSTf/BSTg will be used similar (with similar rights to exist) to BSTl/BSTr/BST* in templates with described necessity. If name is inappropriate by some reason - you are free to change it (and in all places where it is used) (I tried to select a name similar to all existing conventions). Ventilation shafts

Ventilation shaft on tunnel light rail track stretch.

I am making detailed diagrams of the Lisbon Subway and found a few instances of ventilation shafts as features of track tunnels — like in this presentation (and a few others hosted in what Wm thinks are spam sites, such as the SkyscraperCity forum). I thus created this new icon  (utVNT), with a new ID, VNT, meant for naming usage akin to HST or ENDE. Of course it only makes sense for tunnel track, I think. Grade-separated crossover with through line

I agree. It's one of many instance where people could not predict how more complex the system would get (the -o being redundant because the alternate name is -ur, which does not have "priority" in being specified in the name).  (vÜWBr)/ (vÜWBl) should probably have -o redirects created for consistency's sake. I think the name is as straightforward as we can get it, assuming that vÜWBol+r is the same with the bypass on the opposite side. Circeus (talk) 01:39, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

What is done for other system’s R.D.T.s, in several wikipedias, is to keep a generic icon, like  (uBHF), in the diagram, or one specific to the network/company in question (either whole, such as  (SBHF), or overlaid, such as   (GBHF legende)), and add specific line indicators in the text — either as simple text, styled text, or bullet-like images.

If icons for numbered lines are going to be created, however, I urge the creator to

• Keep the names generic — thus not BHF_NYMTA2 but BHF_num2, f.i.
• Create only overlay bullet-only versions of the icons, to be added on regular station icons, and name them FOO_legende.
• Keep colors within sensible variation range — e.g. if a NY subway line uses RGB#445566 and we already have a set of icons using RGB#405060, use it, don’t make a new set.

Thanks! Although its interesting... I could have sworn that when I posted  (mABZrf), the joining (blue) line didn't overtake the main (red). All the others in the series seem to show that the joining line "ends" and becomes the main. In this instance I need the top of the  (umABZrf) to be blue (as the metro line continues). The blue version has 2 disadvantages: In reality there are no portals inside the mountain, of cause. Thanks for your suggestion. But in your example, I have problems to identify, which tunnel description belongs to which tunnel. The portals are in different height, but both belong to the row "Tunnel Füllbach". I think, track symbols dont necessarily describe the length of a building, so I would keep the actual version in the article. I already told him that bundling a bunch of pixels in an SVG wrap doesnt make the cut. Told him to use a text editor, too, yet somehow I don’t think this Base64 data was typed in by hand from calculations on graph paper. (I’d bet it is done by opening an SVG isn MSPaint, some paint bucket action, and then save as SVG again. With these results.) Still, even rasters of BSicons could be easily kept at 500×500 px, right?
