Missing countries[edit]

Here is not Albania, Bulgaria, romania, latvia, lithuania and estonia--თეკა (talk) 10:21, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Corrected, thank you!. --Addicted04 (talk) 02:47, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but for the user this result is more important, and it is not fixed yet. Tomeasy (talk) 08:45, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What about Kosovo and French Guyana?[edit]

Kosovo is recognized as an independent country by the majority of NATO nations. So maybe it should be shown on the map, at least with a dotted line in relation to Central Serbia.

French Guyana is considered as an integral part of the French Republic. So it shouldn’t be painted in green on this map, too?--MaGioZal (talk) 19:43, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oops…[edit]

I recently found the original 1949 text of the North Atlantic Treaty that created NATO and it states in the 6th article that only Euro-American territories above the Tropic of Cancer were protected by the mutual-defence (“an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all”) agreement.

So, considering the contents of the text French Guiana, tough a part of France, is not under NATO Article V/VI protection, as the same way that Hawaii and Puerto Rico, which are also situated below that tropical line, too.--MaGioZal (talk) 02:40, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What about Kosovo?[edit]

Kosovo is recognized as an independent country by the majority of NATO nations, which were involved in Kosovo War. So it should be shown on the map, at least with a dotted line in relation to Central Serbia.--MaGioZal (talk) 12:48, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

USA[edit]

Puerto Rico and a small part of Alaska are not green on the map. --Excolis (talk) 19:14, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Montenegro[edit]

Montenegro will be part of NATO. So Montenegro should be in green on the map.

Hawaii?[edit]

Should the globe be turned to make Hawaii visible? TenorTwelve (talk) 06:41, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

French Guiana not part of the Treaty or NATO according to Art VI (Article 6)[edit]

French Guiana is not part of NATO with regards to the French Republic (France) as it was and is not part of, excluded and out of the scope of the founding North Atlantic Treaty with respect of the French Republic (France) according to Art VI (Article 6), on the same basis as Guam with regards to the United States of America [1]. Perhaps a different map be drawn in order to specifically exclude French Guiana and any of the other national territories of the NATO members states which are NOT in fact part of the scope of either the Treaty or NATO? -- 87.102.116.36 06:31, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I tend to agree that we don't need to show French Guiana. It is however a discussion between whether this map shows "NATO" or "Countries in NATO", and which do editors find more confusing to look at.-- Patrick, oѺ 22:23, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't it time to add Finland and Sweden?[edit]

Their accension bid has been ratified by every single NATO member except Hungary and Turkey. Isn't it fair to say that they are both de facto a part of NATO now? VladikVP (talk) 12:17, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No, NATO membership isn't de facto. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 14:08, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Finland[edit]

Should Finland now be added since every NATO country has ratified Finlands accension bid? Tipinen (talk) 19:53, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The image was updated slightly ahead of schedule, Finland will be a member when the US receives their acceptance of the invitation to NATO. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 23:37, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is an official ceremony at 15:00 on April 4, so if you can wait another 14 hours, that's when it'll be official. -- Patrick, oѺ 23:45, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Sweden[edit]

Same as above. Blockhaj (talk) 13:37, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
