Summary[edit]

Description
English: The VLS growth of semiconductor nanowires such as ZnONWs is typically carried out on specific substrates (such as sapphire in the case of ZnONWs) in order to ensure a low mismatch between NW and substrate crystalline structures. In these conditions, the VLS growth results in a epitaxial growth of the NW structure along a preferential direction fixed by the substrate crystal orientation. The figure shows ZnONWs vertically aligned on sapphire substrates, thanks to the c-plane of the substrate surface.
