Summary[edit]

Description
Issue day at Camp Supply

This is probably the first issue of rations and annuities at Camp Supply. For years this photograph was believed to have been made at Fort Sill, but more recent information places Camp Supply as the site. This identification comes from Morgan Otis, a construction engineer and a descendant of the Fort Marion Kiowa prisoner, Zotom (Zontam), and of Pacer, the Kiowa-Apache chief.[...] The agency ration issues initially were flour, sugar, coffee, dried fruit, and desiccated vegetables. Beef was issued later after the buffalo had become scarce.
