Description
Deutsch: Zwei Weiselzellen wurden seitlich geöffnet, um die Entwicklung einer Bienenkönigin der Westlichen Honigbiene zu zeigen. Die Larven schwimmen zunächst im Königinfuttersaft, der sich an der Oberseite der Zelle befindet. Hier sieht man schon eine spätere Phase, in der sich die Larven zunehmend strecken und schließlich die ganze Länge der Zelle einnehmen, die jetzt unten geschlossen ist. Die Larven sind etwa vor 5-6 bzw. 6-7 Tagen aus dem Ei geschlüpft oder ab Eilage etwa 8-9 bzw. 9-10 Tage alt.
English: Two queen cells were opened to show older queen larvae of the Western honey bee. On top of the cells can be seen the royal jelly. The larvae are already more or less stretched. At the bottom, the cell is capped.
