Description
English: The inaugural aero-mail service delivery to Chicago from Great Lakes Naval Training base lands at Grant Park on October 5, 1918. Pilots Lee Hammond and Duncan Forbes were both members of the Great Lakes Flying Corp. They delivered a message to Chicago and Liberty Loan officials: "Buy Liberty Bonds." This marked the creation of regular airmail service between Chicago and the base. — Chicago Tribune historical photo
