Additional Notes | Our featured guest today is Anna Baltzer, Columbia University graduate, Fulbright Scholar, volunteer with the International Women's Peace Service, and author of a stunning, beautifully illustrated book entitled: "Witness in Palestine: Journal of a Jewish American Woman in the Occupied Territories." Anna is on tour in this country until mid-April, 2008. This coming week she will be giving talks on Tuesday at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill and on Thursday at the Open University of the Left in Chicago. To know more about her and her work, please visit her website at <annainthemiddleeast.com>. Her eyewitness reports can be read at her blog: <annainpalestine.blogspot.com>. Anna joins us by telephone. Noam Chomsky had this to say of her book: "Even those who are familiar with the grim reality of the occupied territories will quickly be drawn into a world they had barely imagined by these vivid, searingly honest, intensely acute portrayals of unflagging courage, wanton cruelty, and enduring faith that, through nonviolent resistance, fundamental decency will somehow prevail - an outcome that lies vey much in our hands." And the late Israeli historian Tanya Reinhart said: "Baltzer's moving and vivid memoir tells the story of the daily struggle along the Wall in the West Bank, with stories and pictures that capture not just the hardships, but also the resilience of the Palestinian people." The book was published this year by Paradigm Publishers of Boulder Colorado, and is now generally available in bookstores. |
