Plaque portraying St George slaying the Dragon. 15th century cloisonné enamel on gold. 15X11,5 cm (National Art Museum of Georgia) It is a Georgian icon from the 12th or 13th century. It is cloisonne' enamel on gold. The original is about 4"x5-1/4". It is from the Georgian State Museum of Fine Arts. The inscription is in ancient Georgian and Greek. |
