Português: Este painel, juntamente com a "Adoração dos Pastores" (ME 1520) e o "Calvário" (ME 1522), formava o conjunto pintado por Gregório Lopes, em 1544,para os três altares da Igreja do Bom Jesus de Valverde, por encomenda do Cardeal D. Henrique. Dentro da igreja este painel ficava no altar do lado do Evangelho, o "Calvário" no altar principal e a "Adoração dos Pastores"no lado da Epístola pois os painéis distribuiam-se segundo uma sequência narrativa adequada à circulação interna do espaço que, tratando-se de uma planta de cruz grega formada por quatro octógonos dispostos simetricamente em volta de um octógono central e com a entrada pelo octógono fronteiro ao do altar-mor, mas por uma abertura lateral, se faz no sentido da direita para a esquerda e não pelo sentido inverso, como é mais usuall. Por despacho de Maio de 1929, do Ministro da Instrução, o Director da Escola Regional de Agricultura entrega os quadros ao Museu de Évora a 13 de Junho desse ano.
