A Libyan protocol official stands by Libyan Chief of State Muammar al-Qadaffi in the Plenary Hall of the United Nations building in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, during the 12th African Union (AU) Summit, Feb. 2, 2009. The assembly elected Gaddafi to relieve Jakaya Kikwete, President of Tanzania, as AU chairperson.
