Description
English: Top of the monument to Cervantes (1925–30, 1956–57) at the Plaza de España (Spain Square) in Madrid. Five female figures, representing the five Continents, read Don Quixote while holding up a globe, symbolizing thus the universal dissemination of the novel. These sculptures were made by Lorenzo Coullaut Valera (1876–1932) between 1925 and 1930.
Español: Cima del monumento a Cervantes (1925–30, 1956–57) de la Plaza de España de Madrid. Cinco figuras femeninas, que representan a los cinco Continentes, leen El Quijote mientras sostienen un globo terráqueo, simbolizando así la difusión universal de la novela cervantina. Estas esculturas fueron realizadas por Lorenzo Coullaut Valera (1876–1932) entre 1925 y 1930.
