Notes Recorded as signed and dated 1665. Probably a companion to The Sleeping Cavalier (Manchester Art Gallery 1979.483), since the same models are used for the cavalier and the serving girl, despite differences in size and costumes. The same figures appear again in The Merry Company (Manchester Art Gallery 1926.11).
