Description
English: PDF containing scans of two clippings recording proceedings of a dinner held by the Massachusetts Reform Club on April 24, 1885. The first is a clipping of Carl Schurz's speech at the dinner from The Civil Service Record of 1885 (this is all that is recorded of the date; perhaps it is an annual periodical). The second clipping is an extended article from the Boston Daily Advertiser of April 25, 1885, describing the proceedings at the dinner including the full text of speeches by Carl Schurz, E. J. Phelps and George E. Ellis; a poem by William Everett; and descriptions of what several other speakers said.
