Alberta Darling, chair of the Joint Finance committee, and champion of Governor Walker issues, has been noticeably absent from public meetings in her district. Darling is facing a challenge in a recall election to be held July 12, 2011 for her role in shepherding Gov. Walker's legislative agenda. Sandy Pasch, Whitefish Bay, WI, opposes the Walker agenda and recently announced her candidacy for the State Senate District 8 seat that the Republican Darling, River Hills, WI, currently holds. This unprecedented number of bills (in just a few months) is a slew of what Pasch calls, "mean spirited" policies that disproportionately place an increasing burden on the most vulnerable in society while lowering taxes for the wealthiest people and corporations. A panel discussion about the impact of the state budget on Women's health issues, moderated by former Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton and featuring Rep. Sandy Pasch (candidate for State Senate District 8), Torrie Moffit, Molly Swank (Planned Parenthood), Sarah Demonie Vegas, on Thursday, May 12th at Kingo Lutheran Church, in Shorewood, Wisconsin. Current (and recalled) State Senator Alberta Darling was invited but did not attend. |
