Description
日本語: 脆い地層（上から砂礫層・火山灰と思われる灰色の層が交互に計６層ほど堆積）。　面白いことに異なる地層が交互に堆積しているにも関わらず、その崖の部分は常に垂直に近い状態で崩落を繰り返していること。　海岸段丘。　礫（れき）。　波による海岸の侵食。　消波ブロックによる緩和措置。　青森県今別町山崎中宇田～袰月（高野崎より西側）は舎利石の産地。段丘より崩れ落ちた砂礫の中に含まれる二酸化ケイ素を多く含む水晶（玉髄）、瑪瑙、碧玉が打ち寄せる波によって削られ水摩礫となる。中でもここだけで産出する舎利石は他の第三紀層から産出するそれら錦石と呼ばれる石よりも密度が均一なものが圧倒的に多く、その多くが採取した時点で半光沢や完全に光沢を帯びているものが多い。
