Why is the Competition open to Singapore Citizens and PRs only?[edit]

@Robertsky, RASharma (WMF), SGill (WMF), and Gnangarra: Appreciation of a country and its heritage should not be restricted to a certain section of the population. Why the discrimination? Do the organizers feel that residents who are not Citizens and PRs will not or do not know the heritage of Singapore or have appreciation for it? Every resident in the country should be given the opportunity to participate. Integrating communities and people should be the focus. AnamikaWrites (talk) 02:23, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@AnamikaWrites: Thanks for raising this. This was unintended, and we have conferred with our sponsors on this. The eligibility criteria has been expanded to allow anyone residing in Singapore to participate. Robertsky (talk) 09:22, 14 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Robertsky, RASharma (WMF), SGill (WMF), and Gnangarra:
Thank you for following it up with the sponsors. Much appreciated. This means a lot ---- AnamikaWrites (talk) 05:58, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Robertsky, RASharma (WMF), SGill (WMF), and Gnangarra: "The eligibility criteria has been expanded to allow anyone residing in Singapore to participate." Would that mean present only, or would it include past residents, too? With content from the time of their residency. --Wuselig (talk) 14:46, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome to contribute photos of Singapores Living Heritage, the primary aim of the event is to engage local volunteers, sponsors, and general public in Singapore. The prizes are being supplied by one of our key partners who we have been working closely with and their members will be a key part of our large volunteer team. @Wuselig While anyone based in Singapore can contribute to the competition, we can only offer the prizes to participants who presently reside in Singapore and will be available in Singapore between the 15-20th of August, 2023 due to the nature of the prize selection by the competition organizers. I am not in for the prizes, but it can be done ;-) Wuselig (talk) 09:25, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not to say, that winning a prize wouldn't be fun Wuselig (talk) 09:28, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Robertsky, RASharma (WMF), SGill (WMF), and Gnangarra: May I ask who are the winners for the wiki love heritage photography competition? I can't seem to find who the winners are for about a month now. It would be great if someone can help me out here! :) —Preceding unsigned comment was added by 138.75.17.204 (talk)

Are edited pictures allowed?[edit]

I mean pictures edited in softwares like lightroom Nil not found (talk) 09:44, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I sure hope so, because that is state of the art. People photograph in RAW-format, working with lightroom is no different than what you did when you developed a film in the old days. By the way, jpg is also an edited version. The editing was just done by a program in your camera. By editing RAW-files you take back the power over your images from some software developers at the camera manufacturer.
With photoshop I am more critical. You should not try to add things to your images.
Taking away things is something else. Remove sensor dirt is okay. Removing objects, like a fire extinguisher, a bird flying into your exposure, things that spoil the character of the image you want to portray is a different matter and I would leave that to the jurors. There is a margin of tolerance between documentation and creating situations that belie reality. When I can, I remove (and later put it back to the original post) a dust-bin on site, rather than erasing it at home with lightroom. Wuselig (talk) 08:31, 25 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
