Problem with Flickr-no known copyright restrictions license[edit]

@Steinsplitter: dFX doesn't like {{Flickr-no known copyright restrictions}} as present in File:Saint-Lizier, septembre 1882 (8190563520).jpg, reporting "Sorry, ... your images can't be merged! ... The licenses are incompatible or the licenses can't be detected". Please allow dFX to process files with that template.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 03:54, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tool down?[edit]

I’ve tried to use this over the last couple days and it keeps telling me I’m not logged in and shows my IP address, so I follow the link to log in...where it shows my username and says I’m already logged in. I imagine there might be things I can do to troubleshoot this but I don’t know what (not sure how to purge the Toolforge page?) Help, please? Or is it just down for everyone? Innisfree987 (talk) 19:42, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Innisfree987: It works for me in Chrome Version 87.0.4280.88 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Windows 10.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 08:29, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh thanks Jeff G.—sounds like maybe problem is just on mobile. Tried Safari, Chrome and Firefox on iOS 14 and encountered same issue on all. Bummer. Innisfree987 (talk) 15:51, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Innisfree987: It also works for me in Puffin Browser Pro (v4.7.3) and Google Chrome (v37.0.2062.60) on my iPad 3. On my Samsung Galaxy A20 (SM-A205U Build/QP1A.190711.020) phone with Android 10, it works for me in Puffin Browser Free (v8.5.0.42207 (10042207) UI Version (701008)) and Google Chrome (v87.0.4280.101). Puffin Browser Free (v4.7.3) on my iPad has been terminated. Safari (Bundle Version 8536.25) and Opera Classic (Opera Mobile 12.1) won't connect to WMF sites securely, and so are dead to me for my work on such sites.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 16:40, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
So appreciate your checking all these options Jeff G.—I'm really stumped by the fact Chrome is working on iOS for you and not for me. Maybe I’ll spend the five bucks to see if Puffin has the same issue. Meanwhile just want to make sure I understand—when you say Safari and Opera won’t connect securely to WMF sites, are you talking about an unencrypted http connection (as opposed to https), or something else? Sorry it’s been a couple years since I dealt with this regularly, I’m rusty. Thank you so much for your help. Innisfree987 (talk) 17:41, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Innisfree987: Don't spend the five bucks unless you have it to burn, Puffin Browser Pro on iOS is no longer supported and Apple hasn't allowed updates to it in two years. On any WMF site, even flagship https://wikipedia.org/ , my Safari says "Safari cannot open the page because it could not establish a secure connection to the server", and my Opera Mobile says "Unable to complete secure transaction" and "Secure connection: fatal error (40) from server."   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 18:13, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Jeff G.: ah ok this is all incredibly helpful; I think we’ve narrowed down the issue to the iPhone I’m on because I don’t get those warnings and my connections are all https, so clearly something different is happening. And I’ll save my $5 on Puffin! Thanks so much. Innisfree987 (talk) 18:20, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Innisfree987: You're welcome. Do you have access to any other devices to at least test with? Maybe your phone carrier, Apple, or a housemate with a WMF account could help narrow it down? Do you have any security software that inhibits cross-site or iframe activity? My iPhone 5s won't boot. Which iPhone do you have?   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 18:33, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea, if charged I think my iPad should power on. We’ll see. Unfortunately it’s not terribly convenient for my regular use but if it might narrow the issue... This is an iPhone SE and so maybe it has built-in security measures tripping up the recognition? Oh I could try my old phone now functioning as an iPod. Ok will update! Innisfree987 (talk) 18:53, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Took me a bit to get everything out and charged and...same problem on iPhone 6s and iPad. As I type, it occurs to me to see if it happens on mobile data or if my ISP or router is somehow the problem. Ok charging the functional phone now, will try that next! Mystery! Innisfree987 (talk) 03:18, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No dice. Same on cellular network. I’m stumped! Innisfree987 (talk) 04:07, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Breakthrough. I had no-cross-site-tracking on on all my devices. So much a default I don’t even think about it. But disabling makes the tool work. Huzzah! Innisfree987 (talk) 04:59, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Innisfree987: Congratulations! I'm sorry it took so long to troubleshoot. I'm calling that "cross-site-enabling". :)   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 12:59, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Jeff G.: just so— “cross-site enabling” is required! Thank you so much for going through so many different possibilities with me—I would never have gotten there on my own. And very relieved I did—tried out the tool for the first time and wow does it make things easier! Thank you!! Innisfree987 (talk) 18:57, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Innisfree987: You're welcome!! However, that attempted ping did not work. Per mediawikiwiki:Extension:Echo#Usage, you must link to another user's page and sign in the same edit in order to effectively mention, notify, or ping them, and even then only if they have "Notify me when someone links to my user page" set (which is the default here).   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 22:26, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Jeff G.: Hopefully this time the thank you for unveiling that mystery pings! I knew there had to be a reason reforming it didn’t always seem to work. Much obliged for all—the learning continues! Innisfree987 (talk) 22:36, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Innisfree987: Yes, that worked.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 22:42, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not working in Chrome on Win10[edit]

https://derivative.toolforge.org/deri2.php?lang=en is showing the logo and "Description: for the |description= -parameter in {{Information}}" with nothing else useful.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 15:09, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I was able to get farther in Chrome on my Android 10 phone.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 15:23, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not working in Firefox with Win10[edit]

Hi, the tool doesn't work for me today. After adding this original work, I clicked on the "OK - next" button but the form disappears, only appears "Description:? for the |description= -parameter in {{Information}}".--Pạtạfisik 10:38, 12 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

offline?[edit]

Is this thingy offline? Can't call it at the moment... --Subbass1 (talk) 08:48, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Same, for a few days now. Is there another tool that does the same thing? Manually takes me like 30 minutes. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 01:03, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
