Welcome to Wiki Loves Vizag 2024!
Wiki Loves Vizag 2024 is a photography competition to capture the essence of unexplored places in Vizag, covering heritage, culture, calamities, objects, people, agriculture, buildings, bridges, sports, and more.
Concept[edit]
The competition aims to collect images of various aspects of Vizag, showcasing its cultural and natural heritage. Participants are encouraged to capture the diversity of the city, including its monuments, events, and daily life. The scope includes, but is not limited to, images related to buildings, culture and events in Visakhapatnam.
Timeline[edit]
- 21 January 2024 - 05 March 2024
- Deadline for submissions: March 05, 2024, 23:59 IST.
- Results Declaration: April 2024.
Note: You are allowed to submit any image, whether captured during or before the competition begins.
PhotoWalk[edit]
A PhotoWalk is planned under this intiative at Thotlakonda on 3rd of March (Sunday). It shall follow below timelines:
- 2:00pm IST - Participants should gather at Amethyst Online Consultants office for a Mini-workshop on Wikimedia Commons
- 3:00pm IST - Team will start to Thotlakonda hill (Transportation arranged by Wikipedia)
- 3:30pm-5:30pm IST - Photography walk at Thotlakonda
- 6:00pm IST - Participants will be dropped back at the gathering point (Transportation arranged by Wikipedia)
Prizes[edit]
Contestants will receive prizes based on their respective categories:
- Nature of Vizag
- Religious and Colonial Buildings of Visakhapatnam
- Transportation in Vizag
- Buildings (Exterior/Interior) and Bridges of Vizag
- People, Sports and Events of Vizag
Winners
- Round 1: 3 selected images, each from above categories will be rewarded (Total 15x images)
- Round 2: Contestants with 3 best images from these 15 selected will receive a Voucher/Coupon of their choice

Competition scope: examples to get inspired[edit]
The theme calls for photographs and videos files that document all manner of unexplored places in Vizag, covering heritage, culture, calamities, objects like ships, trains, and buses, people involved in cultural activities, places of agriculture, old and new buildings, bridges, and sports events. The initial discussion for Wiki Loves Vizag began when Telugu Wikipedia announced its 20th anniversary celebration in Visakhapatnam. Discussions about Wiki Loves Vizag 2024 were kick-started on Telugu Wikipedia's Community portal. Subsequently, we further discussed its progress and tasks at TeWiki Pangada 2024, which took place at Dolphin Hotel in Vizag. This project is being sponsored by CIS-A2K with the help of Wikimedia Foundation.
