- Info The species of the genus Strigilla have a very interesting and unusual shell surface; created by Llez - uploaded by Llez - nominated by Llez -- Llez (talk) 07:17, 7 May 2023 (UTC)

- Support Great work as usual! What's unusual about the surface? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:32, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
- Info The genus Strigilla was introduced by TURTON, 1882 (Conchylia insularum britannicarum, page XVI), and was defined as "shell with angular striae in opposite directions". Normally all ribs or striae have a similar direction, here it changes in a very noticeable way. If you look at the left valve, on the left side the striae are horizontal and slightly curved, then there is an almost smooth area at the top, followed by striae running from top left to bottom right, then another fairly smooth area and all the way to the right again striae at a different angle than in the middle of the valve (and vice versa on the right valve). Such an arrangement is unique. --Llez (talk) 20:58, 7 May 2023 (UTC)

- Question I'm guessing the shells are not stained, and that the green bits are normal? Charlesjsharp (talk) 21:39, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
- Info Not stained, it is the natural colour. The "green bits" are the so called ligament, a structure, which occurs in all bivalve shells. --Llez (talk) 05:33, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
