Types of charts[edit]

Line chart[edit]

In the first 1826 chart Minard, engineer and chef of the Canal de Saint-Quentin, entitled the chart, as "Tableau Chronologique..."

Bar chart[edit]

Minard called these types of chart the "Tableau figuratif." The 1844 chart states "Drawn up by Mr. Minard, Divisional Inspector of Bridges and Roads."

Flow map[edit]

Minard called these types of charts the "Carte de la circulation."

Cartogram[edit]

Minard called these types of charts the "Carte figurative."
