irrelevant bloat[edit]

Compare my Aztlan map with some of the maps it was derived from in regards to file size. There's a huge CDATA block left in there by Illustrator that can safely be removed without affecting the SVG at all. Anybody have a bot that could fix these? ⇔ ChristTrekker 21:08, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What would be the benefit. It would just case the server to rerender massive amounts of SVGs. --Dschwen (talk) 23:43, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In any case, it's only the older version of Illustrator that does it. CS5 and CS5.5 produces rather more optimised code, so much so in most cases I can reduce Inkscape produced files by by at least 30% just by saving as an .ai file then back to .svg. --Fred the Oyster (talk) 19:33, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You may as well save as plain svg in inkscape. But who cares anyways. It is not just "bloat', it may contain data that makes editing/reuse more convenient. --Dschwen (talk) 14:56, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, it's bloat. Sodipodi tags are known the whole 'net over as being a total pain in the ass and do more harm than good. --Fred the Oyster (talk) 16:27, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
