Original Flickr descriptions[edit]
Beeblebrox has just "remove[d an] immense mountain of irrelevant material", namely the original Flickr description, from File:Rosie (14175985876).jpg. But other images in this category are handled differently, for example:
- File:Rosie (15159985936).jpg and File:Another View (16071364889).jpg still have the original, possibly irrelevant, Flickr description, displayed normally.
- File:TUTORIAL - Hazy, Sunday Morning Style Images (16244685101).jpg still has the original, probably relevant, Flickr description, displayed normally. Importantly, the tutorial is still available in the Wayback Machine.
- File:A Million Miles From Everywhere (21463823538).jpg still has the original Flickr description, but in a collapsed box.
We should come up with a consistent rule. I suggest keeping the original description in a collapsed box. We have an entire category about the source, so their descriptions could be relevant, and there is no harm in keeping them. Brianjd (talk) 05:05, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- I disagree. Flikr has a different purpose from Commons. It is not necessary or helpful to keep long, rambling personal observations about image subjects. Beeblebrox (talk) 07:14, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Beeblebrox: I don't think we can agree here, and this could be relevant to other categories, so I have taken it to the Village pump. Brianjd (talk) 07:00, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
