Lobbyist?[edit]

@DukeOfDelTaco: I see you added Category:Lobbyists from the United States. What is the basis for that? - Jmabel ! talk 06:42, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I was basing it off her English Wikipedia article in the early career section that states she was a "citizen-lobbyist," citing this New York Times article. If this is incorrect I apologize for the inclusion. DukeOfDelTaco (talk) 06:51, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@DukeOfDelTaco: I think "lobbyist" is misleading for that. A "citizen-lobbyist" means a person who, for no pay, approaches elected officials to try to convince them of something. A "lobbyist" means someone who is paid to approach elected officials to try to convince them of something. The former is basically just an advocate of a position; the latter is a profession that a lot of people consider a bit shady. So I think that unless you can show she was paid to do this (and I'm pretty sure she was not), that category is inappropriate. I'll remove it, but if someone has evidence that this was paid work, then it can be restored. - Jmabel ! talk 14:59, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
