THE DEVELOPMENT OF MUSIC ALBUMS

Albums originated back in the 1800's in Hanover, Germany by(Shellac Records) until the 50's. In 1890, the first recordable format was a 7in disc albums were made with hard unbreakable rubber obtain from the excretion of a Southeast Asian beetle and wax lubricant then a celluloid plastic made in 1904 causing a high level of surface noise. 1910,the 12inch record was mostly classical music or opera containing only four to five minutes of music on each side. There were Albums commonly know as "LP'S". Albums had been around for many decades. Used as a source for recording music in the music industry. Album came various sizes from 12in, 33in known as LP's and later 45in used for single hits. Made from a hard plastic that made sounds on a phonograph then later on a record player then a stereo. In 1930, RCA Victor launched the first commercially available vinyl long-playing 33inch record. 1939,Columbia Records developed a playback system. In 1948,the 12inch long play 33 record album was introduce by Columbia Records in New York at a press conference. 1949, RCA produced and recorded first vinyl 45inch single record. it's extended play the 12" (30 cm) Long Play (LP) 33? rpm microgroove record album was introduced by the Columbia Record at a dramatic New York press conference. Later in history RCA and Columbia introduced turntables with spindle and snap in adapters. By 1950, more and more record companies emerged agreeing on recording standard called RIAA equalization. With each company using its own standard. By 1970 turntables had a speed settings for older recording formats with the 33inch record being the standard format for music albums.
