@Elkost: Today you switched Category:Transport and Category:Logistics as parent categories. Now Category:Transport is the parent of Category:Logistics while I think it is the other way around. You can have logistics without transport, like storage and all the other subcategories, but transport is always a part of logistics. For me Logistics is the umbrella term, not Transport. Also in the EN Wikipedia Category:Logistics is the main category and Transport is part of it, not the other way around. Can I undo these two changes of you? @JopkeB: Thank you for your note! It made me check the correlation between these terms once again.
  • Grounds for my edit: in En.Wiki ‘Category:Logistics’ is a child of ‘Category:Transport’ (although the articles ‘Logistics’ and ‘Transport’ are both classified in the categories ‘C:Logistics’ and ‘C:Transport’). I've appreciated this, being an economist, because in macroeconomics ‘Logistics’ is usually added to the huge ‘Transport’ branch (for practical reasons).
  • As you reasonably noted, logistics' sub-fields (storage and others) are met not only in the transport. Even more, according to En.Wikt the term ‘Logistics’ had appeared in 1830, applied only for military activities, including even personnel. Anyway, I do not support subordination of ‘Transport’ to ‘Logistics’.
  • Finally, I'll remove ‘C:Logistics’ from ‘C:Transport’.--Elkost (talk) 06:43, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Elkost: Thanks for your comprehensive answer and remove ‘C:Logistics’ from ‘C:Transport’. I still have a question:
  • Can you give examples of activities that are about Transport but are not part of Logistics? JopkeB (talk) 04:33, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@JopkeB: Examples: maintenance of vehicles, accidents and incidents, etc.--Elkost (talk) 04:40, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Let's assume you are right (I think maintenance and accidents are an inseparable part of transport and therefor part of logistics) or there might be another reason (for instance: is transport of people part of logistics? Not according to the description I added earlier to this category; I would appreciate your opinion about this description as well): how can we then connect Logistics to Transport? Can we at least make Category:Transport economics a subcategory of Category:Logistics? JopkeB (talk) 07:13, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Outcome discussion: add description[edit]
