Creating sub-categories[edit]

According to Gary Ashkenazy's Primaltrek / Primal Trek these are the following categories of Chinese charms (this list is appropriated from “primaltrek.com/types.html” (Types of Chinese Charms) at Gary Ashkenazy's Primaltrek / Primal Trek fitted to Wikimedia Commons.):

Now I personally think that “Bamboo tallies” shouldn't be considered to be Chinese numismatic charms. As there are lots of different categories of different Chinese numismatic charms I would suggest for someone who has all of these to upload them and ads them to the appropriate categories, or if someone else uploads the images leave a message at my talk page and I'll add them to the appropriate sub-categories based on Gary Ashkenazy's Primaltrek / Primal Trek. One of the many reasons why I am importing all of Gary Ashkenazy's Primaltrek's / Primal Trek’s information into Wikipedia (most notably into the “Yansheng Coin” article) is so there will be enough information 🛈 on these Chinese numismatic charms, in fact soon ALL information 🛈 from Gary Ashkenazy's Primaltrek / Primal Trek will be in the article (except for the descriptions of the images of Chinese numismatic charms on the website) which will mean that the only thing missing in the article will be (good) images to illustrate the above mentioned subjects. As this is a HUGE import this will also require quite a large amount of images here, I am already in discussion with Mr. Vladimir Belyaev of Charm.ru to let him donate his images from Charm.ru to Wikimedia Commons so I will be able to add some of these categories after the OTRS ticket 🎟 has been processed, but as a fairly large number of free images of these charms aren't that easy to find on the internet it might take quite some time before Wikimedia Commons will have all of them.

Edgar J. Mandel’s "Metal Charms and Amulets of China" and its classification of Chinese numismatic charms[edit]

I would like to propose a parallel organisation system for categorising Category:Chinese numismatic charms based on Edgar J. Mandel’s "Metal Charms and Amulets of China" and its classification of Chinese numismatic charms, I’ve added links to (sub-)categories we could directly created based on this work that I think could be adopted verbatim to Wikimedia Commons, while I would encourage others to adopt the other classifications if they wish to upload their images of Chinese numismatic charms to Wikimedia Commons.
