@Colin Douglas Howell, Herranderssvensson, and Finoskov: Here is something wrong. I have studied the book Panhard & Levassor entre tradition et modernité by Bernard Vermeylen. The Type A1/A2 was introduced in 1899 and built up to 1902. Engines with 1206 cc and 1654 cc. Two predecessors: from 1895 to 1898 there was M2E with 1206 cc and from 1896 to 1898 there was M2F with 1654 cc. Both M2E and M2F were sometimes called Type A1/A2, but this is not official according to the book.
When Type A1 is right then the year 1898 is wrong. Or when year 1898 is right then Type A is wrong.
I have seen Palissy PM68002005. No engine datas. Numéro de série : n° châssis 26. Chassis number 26 must be several years older than 1898. Other existing Panhard & Levassor built in 1898 have the numbers 1260 to 1451 according to source doyennes. I think that Palissy investigated the car 45 years ago in 1978. I cannot trust this source. --Buch-t (talk) 08:27, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you certainly seem more knowledgable here than I am. I'm sorry that I can't offer more concrete or authoritative advice, but it's been years since I last looked at this stuff. Feel free to correct this as you see fit. Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 22:26, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
