English: The Costume of China, illustrated in forty-eight coloured engravings. London: Published by William Miller, Albemarle Street; Printed by W. Bulmer and Co., Cleveland-row, St. James, 1805. Engravings were published in numbers, the first of which appeared in 1797, with a triple set of plates, the etched, the finished, and the coloured. The drawings were made in 1793 by William Alexander (1767-1816), during Macartney Embassy to China in 1793 (the mission ran from 1792 to 1794) to illustrate Macartney's report to the Crown.
