At the apse side of the basilica is a seating space, a synthronon. The actual wall of the apse is some 20 meters behind it. This is a sub-category of a category that is wrongly named as the basilica is NOT in Ephesus, but in Selçuk. But for most tourists it will be just part of their visit to Ephesus.
